WhatsApp has announced new features for group chats, including the @all tag, poll deadlines, and the ability to create a new group chat from an existing one.
Let's talk about the polls feature first. WhatsApp now allows users to edit the poll questions within 15 minutes and set an end time to lock voting when the time is up. Users can also hide the voter names so group members feel more comfortable sharing their preferences.
Next up is the @all tag, which eliminates the need to tag all group members individually in a message to alert them. However, note that for groups with more than 32 members, the @all tag is available for group admins only.
WhatsApp also allows group members to create a new group chat with people from an existing one in just a tap. WhatsApp says "it's perfect for splitting off into a side conversation to plan a surprise party, coordinate event logistics, or dive deeper into a topic without cluttering the main chat."
These new group chat features should reach all users in the coming weeks. Make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp, updated from the app store.
