Dreame Android

Dreame entering the smartphone market (and smart rings and action cameras and even electric vehicles) was a bit of a surprise. But our initial surprise is now replaced with a wide-eyed stare – the company has built a series of luxury smartphones that would make Vertu blush. And then there’s the other series with a detachable camera with a 1” sensor.

Starting with the phones that you can (probably) afford, these will have a detachable camera module that houses a 1” sensor and a Wi-Fi connection so that it can operate remotely. This is similar to Sony’s lens-style cameras and differs from more recent attempts at detachable cameras since the module can work wirelessly. This will give you more flexibility when framing your shot and might even let you shoot A and B roll with just your phone.

And then there’s the luxury series, which will feature jewels and gold inlays and will be built with traditional techniques. These phones will cost in the CNY 70,000-100,000 range ($10,000-$15,000) depending on the precious materials and the number of hand-crafted elements.

Seriously, one of these has a clock on the back! Take that, Ulysse Nardin. Of course, that’s just one of many, many possible designs.

Oh, and Dreame designed an in-house AI chip called Chixiao 01 because of course it did. The chip is quite impressive, promising 200 TOPS of compute power – for comparison, the Snapdragon X2 Elite does 80 TOPS. This chip will be used on both the luxury and the camera phone series.

If you mean Vetru is not as bad, i would say, this days it sadly is. They sell like 200 € euros phones for 5000 €. This guys claim to sell gold devices, well if that's true, at least there would be the "value" but i also doubt that... ...

To quote the great Dolly Parton: "It takes a lot of time and money to look this cheap, honey." Seriously, it looks about as classy as a Vegas hooker.
