This is what I've been asking for for some years now. If you can't give us 4 good cameras, at least give us 3 good ones instead (or a larger battery)
I don't need a midrange phone type of camera setup with a zilion cameras that all suck, just for marketing purposes

Sensor size still very small, in 2026 we need at least 1/1.15 (0.85 and above sensors) for all cameras

Finally a sane decision from Samsung's side. That tiny 3X didn't belong on a $1300 flagship, it just ate up space.
IMO 5X to 4X isn't a downgrade, as the sensor itself is vastly larger.

S20 Ultra had the single 48MP 1/2" 4x camera. Samsung's so out of new ideas that they're essentially rehashing almost the same camera setup they used 6 years ago except you get moar megapickles and a faster aperture on the telephoto

What a joke. They make some of the best sensors and just flat out refuse to use them. 1/1.9? Why not the multiple 1/1.4 telephoto sensors they have? I keep waiting for them to get their act together and they disappoint.

It is not just image quality. Also crop from QB is inferior to what crop of Bayer would give

If this will really be the phone, I wonder whether many will buy it. This ist not a portable edc device for your pocket any more but a whole compact camera with smartphone functionality

To be honest 10x is cool but, 1-5x is where you use 90% of the time. 200mp main cam's 3x digital zoom can match the old 3x optical cam (check s25edge vs s25+ camera shootout). So, main cam should satisfy 1-3x and telephoto can take over after 4x.
Would it match s26ultra's 10-20x? Not optically but, samsung will probably market a new "AI zoom" to generate lost details like pixel 11 pro does. So it will look and feel similar to the old one. Besides, it will zoom better in low light.

But still not big enough reason to choose you over cheaper Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra, Samsung and Apple are still at between 2022 and 2024 when Chinese Androids give something real new till 2026

If it’s 50MP at 4x, then the zoom capabilities will be a downgrade compared to last time.
HOWEVER, if Samsung pairs a 200MP sensor with the 4x optics, we can reach 16x optical quality zoom. (OPPO is at 50MP 10x = 20x optical-quality zoom, VIVO is at 200MP 3.7x = 14.8x optical-quality zoom in good daylight)

So basically the older Samsung Galaxy Ax1-Ax3 series had more cameras than the S27 Ultra yet Samsung started becoming weird on cameras with the Ax4 series and then only the S23 Ultra had 4 cameras and now no Samsung phone has 4 cameras. I can't think of a 4 camera non flagship phone released in 2026 either.
