Will see how is gonna perform under F9 Ultra name

The Xiaomi 17 has exactly the same Light hunter 950 sensor with same f/1.67 aperture as the Redmi k90 pro max and Xiaomi 17t pro all 3 also have a 6P+1g lens. No difference. It's stated clearly on their own website. You can argue about whether the software processing could be improved on the new model but the hardware is an undeniable downgrade.

"Therefore, I don't think you can conclude the HP5 has faster readout" etc - I conclude nothing.
I just wait to see how good will be so I won't say is worse than 8 Ultra for now
Zuzuz, 22 Aug 2026The size of a sensor doesn't mean more light. Aperture and time exposure determine the li... moreYes the aperture and exposure time will determine the light intake so you are right there. If the exposure time and lens aperture is the same then a larger sensor has more photosensitive area, so it can collect more photons for the same exposure, reducing noise and producing a theoretically better quality image particularly in lowlight where the exposure time is limited by hand shake (so it's not just depth of field at all). Also the pixel size is larger too in the previous sensor, meaning it can collect more photons per pixel. In terms of readout speed there are many factors that affect it not just sensor size. Remember the HP5 has 16-in-1 binning for default images compared to 4-in-1 for the Light Hunter 950. Readout would also depend on the architecture, number of readout channels etc. Therefore, I don't think you can conclude the HP5 has faster readout speed at all without official specs or testing. The key question is though do you really believe that the HP5, a sensor used in midrange phones like the IQOO Z11 turbo, Vivo Y500 Pro and Oppo Reno 15 is going to be a better sensor than the main camera sensor used on the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17t pro?

Aperture and time exposure determine the light intake. The F number means the same thing, no matter the size. A bigger size means means just shallow depth of field, nothing else.
O don't know if that's the case, but a smaller sensor means a faster readout, easier cooling and a better distribution of light across it. If the photodiodes are better quality than those in previous sensor, the quality should be kept untouched or even raised.

From what i'm seeing in the reviews, it they have fixed the overheating issue and speakers are only slightly worse due to the bigger battery.
So far i looks like a very balanced option.
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2026Xiaomi is always releasing with an older android version so that when they say 4 major andorid... moreEveryone are doing it for their budget to middle class to entry flagship class who have the entry flagship class like Poco F series is. And it's obvious that the new phones don't come with the latest Android number when the latest number have just released or is still in the beta phase. Never mind that Poco is a budget flagship brand and to cut cost it can't have everything latest and best in the market for the lower cost.
To understand Poco brand it seems that average intelligence is not enough to understand the concept of budget flagship or flagship killer.
Might as well just name them as Poco F9 and then F9 Pro cause they look the same on the camera island as the difference is just in the cameras and the speaker.
Also i don't understand why they need to pop them out 2 generations a year. It use to be F and F Pro in the early summer release and now it's like Redmi note series that release new generation every after around 6 months. Even X series that is top end middle class don't release more then once in a year
looks like the F9 Ultra will have that Bose subwoofer again.
FYI the only devices that got Android 17 via update, are the Xiaomi 17. No other company has updated their devices to Android 17 till today, other than Google Pixels of course, which are the beta testing devices for google
Here's why.
Redmi K100 Pro Max features a 3-camera setup with a decent 5x tele.
What do you expect for its price if it uses the newest chip? Under the current price hike of semiconductors?
Poco and Redmi K are for cheaper prices.
Just skip this generation. It's NOT worth it.
And it doesn't matter which brand you pick, they Will be overpriced with little actual progress in tech.
Vote with your wallet. Wait 1-2 year, or at least until RAMpocalypse has ended.

The new slogan on new phones from Asia should be; pay more, for less.
Aierlan, 21 Aug 2026Looks good apart from the cameras. Main camera downgrade. The main camera on the Poco F8 ultra... more"The Chinese version .... reduced network bands"
For those in Asia such as Malaysia, Singapore, Philipinies, Indonesia
The Chinese version have MORE bands because China and Asia were on the same region 2 and China use more bands than this region.
For Europe version, it have more bands because Europe have their own sets of bands
But ALL Chinese version is 5G SA only since 2024
Because China 5G SA coverage have reach 90%+
So if you're country have 5G NSA, then 5G won't work
Looks good apart from the cameras. Main camera downgrade. The main camera on the Poco F8 ultra had over 40% more light intake. The Chinese version has also had a few other slight downgrades like the screen protection glass, reduced network bands and slightly less bass in the speakers. Apart from that though it's still a very good upgrade with a nice battery size upgrade and still best in class speakers. Will probably be one of Xiaomi's better phones if pricing is OK. Poco branded Xiaomi phones are always far better value than Redmi or Xiaomi branded ones
it would be cool if xiaomi poco f9u were to place a
breathing led light around the bose speaker is nt it
!
?
At this point, "Ultra" is just a random sticker. More like Poco 8s Ultra .
