Anonymous, 31 Jul 2026Great news guys apple and Samsung have even bigger monopoly over market Samsung is not on Apple's level but they are far ahead of all droid manufacturers.
If the Apple and Samsung haters on GSM took some time away from the echo chamber and actually spoke to the average consumer, they might be able to convince some of them to buy other brands.
Instead they just talk among themselves, cheer themselves on, expect things will magically change and pivot their argument to attacking consumers when it doesn't. It's an annual rinse and repeat on this forum.

Component costs are increasing, which leads to less margin per device sold. Apple was absorbing some of this cost, but raising prices should help offset some of that.
Stock price is not direct an indicator of customer demand.

There is no credible competition anymore to Apple, only Samsung can compete and even then they have to rely on Google not constantly making Android worse with bloat and bad design decisions. I miss the days of Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson where everyone had a market share worth making phones for.

They are literally claiming high device demand. This is a lie made to think that what you're paying in excess is so popular millions of others are doing the same.
Device sales are very likely down by a lot, especially the average price. There is zero effort in taking 15% or 30% off other people's work.

This is driven by... moreThey stopped reporting numbers many years ago, because how many units one sells wasn't that important anymore or wasn't metric how well company is doing, when there is for example different priced models. So if they sell less pro max, they can still make more money than selling more cheaper models.

Not a popular theme around these parts but you have to take your hat off to Apple, they aren't every going to be the most innovative, but their brand is strong enough to get people coming back, and once in their ecosystem it's just easy to stay. I am in both groups as I have an iPhone 17, MacBook Air and old iPad Mini, all working well, the latter two are several years old and seamlessly with the newer phone I have. I still also have a OnePlus 13 and Nothing 4a Pro so I can stay in the Android world.

Well, the recent price increase effect probably has not taken into effect yet. Will be interesting what Q4 and 2027 Q1 numbers would be. Will the foldable iPhone hype compensate the obviously reduced sales of everything else due to the price increase?

This is driven by the percentage taxes and selling access. Google pays over 20 billion dollars per year for access, for instance.
When I was you, which admittedly was a long time ago, tech writers weren't parrots. Nowadays they're gig workers in it to produce page clicks.
