I am glad I bought an ASUS ROG STRIX G16 with Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX5070Ti Laptop for 2300€ on discount in february 2026 just in time before new models get announced. When I look at the prices for new equivalent models they are easily above 3500€.

i think the blame falls on the us gov and the european union. they have failed to adequately regulate all of these privacy, security and environmental ( infinite data centre growth) violations over the last few years and obviously the rest will follow suit.

If your phone is running good and you have tight budget then don't even think about buying a phone in 2026 and 2027, just wait for 2028 as everything will change that year.
Or go quickly grab a smartphone from last year

memory chip shortage is because they are producing less of it for phones because they are producing more for that AI dude. So what are the phone companies gonna do with the chipsets if they cant get the memory to pair them up.
No memory - no need for chipsets - chipset shipments down - less phones made - smartphone shipments down - companies shutting down - samsung rules the world - amasamsung.com , united states of samsung , ...

They probably consume as much memory as personal computers / laptops segment.

They will get as much memory as they need but there will be price increases and low and lower midrange phones will be getting less RAM than their respective predecessors

I don't understand the obsession with Qualcomm chipset mobile phone companies should simply ditch Qualcomm and use MediaTek chipset. I blame Qualcomm for overpricing of flagship phones. And, now with this AI stupidity that no one asked now RAM and Storage price has gone through the roof. My guess in 2027 most will not able to buy decent phone and possessing a phone will be a luxury.

its high time people shud not buy phones for atleast 4 to 5 years down the lane. prices wont come down anytime soon so best way is use ur current phone as much as u can and try to be happy with whatever phone u have. try looking in olx or second hand flagship or midranger which is far better than new craps with huge price hike.

i sincerely advice people not to blindly buy phone and use for nothing. please wait 3 to 4 years. use whatever phone u have and be happy. just replace battery and get ur phone going. dont spend money on crap phones....be happy with whatever phone u have guys.let it last longer.

Seeing lower end phones switching from Helio G99/G100 to Unisoc T7250 has been... hopeless.

So the growth is only for Apple and the lowest end (unisoc). This will be the era of unisoc, as they're replacing the current low end king (Helio G99/Dimensity 6xxx family).

I wonder if we will see Samsung Galaxy A series going all full Exynos by next year.

Qualcomm gets it already, they sold the chip so pricey that a built in phone is not even there. It cost so much that manufacturers uses worst quality of Qualcomm home chips basically destroying the whole thing in the first place the budget phone and tablets yesterday era.
