While so... moreHe seems to not understand I deleted PlayStore, Google frame work services, Meta apks, Security, MSA , Analytics and so many so called essential Google apks from my cell just fine. I did it for longer screen run times ,to stop tracking and data sharing by not simply his reasoning of just accepting as is. I still get occasional nags to reinstall PlayStore. Banking apks that doesn't work without GMS can still be fully used by signing thru browser. I found a better map than Google's own called Here We Go. So since I received GMS and PlayStore I am wondering how Google lock down will affect my device as it it thru PlayStore it enforces it policies.

While some permissions are essential for a product to work, much of the data collected is used solely for profiling and resale, not for operating the application.
Final argument: Accepting everything isn't "understanding how the world works"; it's surrendering your right to choose. Convenience shouldn't be synonymous with total submission. You can use modern technology and protect your data by refusing to become the product. What we should demand isn't to abandon technology, but to insist on transparency and minimalism in data collection.

Bussilum.UL, 29 Jul 2026most here probably know it, but there ae people not knowing it sadly. i hope the EU sues themI bet 70–80% of WhatsApp users don't know what data is being harvested to build their profiles. Between the massive list of metadata collected and the unread privacy policy, most people just assume that 'if everyone uses it, it must be okay.'

Either it's being sent to Google, Apple, Samsung or some other mega corporation. There's no modern smartphone on the planet that DOESN'T collect your data.
Most of these permissions ARE NECESSARY for the products to function properly & provide all the services you would expect. You obviously CAN disable access to certain things(which is why apps always have to ask your permission in the first place) but then you would be stuck without anything.
All that convenience & automation comes at the cost of privacy.
Get used to it.
For the data that's optional, it's sold to data brokers, who in turn sell it to advertisers who sponsor(pay for) the cost of the products, including the servers needed for online applications, as well as paying for the salaries of the development & customer support teams etc.
News flash, companies exist to make money. They can't magically keep providing goods & services unless they gain revenue in some way, shape or form. If a product is “free”, that means YOU are the product.
That aside, companies still use this data to accurately determine what users want, what they dislike etc so they actually DO IMPROVE the products, so that's still a huge win.
Take off your tin-foil hat & understand how the world works, and that all the wonders of the modern world(especially technology) DO come with significant costs, no matter how hidden or subliminal.
This is the world WE chose. This is the price we pay for it.
Obviously you can simply CHOOSE not to use any of these products. Nobody is forcing you to. If privacy is so important to you, you could just not use WhatsApp, and deny yourself all its benefits. You could simply not use a smartphone, or a phone at all, and see how much you enjoy your privacy.
Are you willing to make that sacrifice?
Are you willing to undergo hardship to hold onto your beliefs & ideals?
Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?
No? Then put a sock in it & STOP COMPLAINING.

Account and Profile Information: Phone number, display name, profile picture, account registration date and time, and "Last Seen" or "Online" status.
Contact Information: Your phone's contact list (if permission is granted), who you interact with, and the frequency of these interactions.
Traffic and Network Metadata: IP address, device ID, phone model, operating system, app version, and network connection type.
Message Context: Date and time messages are sent, size of attached files, and the number of people in groups (although message content remains private).
Payment Information (if applicable): Transaction details if you use integrated payment features.
Location: If you share your location, WhatsApp collects GPS data or IP address to determine your approximate location.
