Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 – a flagship killer.
How many years of hardware upgrades are there?
From 2026 October.

Hope there is a 8s gen 5
8s gen 4 , 8s gen 3 were great and affordable
DarlingYext, 23 Jul 2026Just when you thought Qualcomm's naming couldn't get any worse. It is a new flagship chip but cheaper for budget cells.
jinxthesloth, 23 Jul 2026So this is gonna be sit between 8 Gen 5 and 8 Elite Gen 5 or actually be similar in performanc... moreIt is a new flagship chip for budget cells.
Good, since the "top" version is useless, unless you want to use it as a portable stove.
Barezkarem, 23 Jul 2026This mess things upHow ? ....when you get flagship chip in budget cells huh ?
In a 7-core Snapdragon 7 Elite Gen 5 is…
Kashyap03, 23 Jul 2026Well Moore's law is right, we are reaching the point of saturation with minute incrementa... moreYeah, it is like 8e5 just pushed so hard to package, but somewhat not perfect when it comes to packaging and for sustained full workloads.
But looks interesting which one of all 8 core CPU (in 2+6 config scenario) gets fused off.
Hopefully not one of the “2 Oryon-L” Cores being fused off, that will nerf significantly, especially games relies on “Forced Scheduling” like the Arknights Endfield which uses custom CPU pinning that assigns 2 heavy threads to Big Cores, while the Worker thread on Smaller cores. Hopefully it went well towards efficiency which is coincidentally great.
While the other games with Unreal Engine titles like Wuthering Waves, NTE or some sort, I have to see what 7-cores can do versus on perfect-yielded 8-core Oryon CPU, which is a bit challenging when dealing cost of what to expect the performance.
Qualcomm has been really confusing to follow since they announced 8 elite gen 5. They keep getting harder to follow
Anton th3 papy, 23 Jul 2026boredNothing to be bored for. That's just a new release. So when you buy a new flagship phone you get this chipset automatically.
potato4k, 23 Jul 2026Qualcomm should just discontinue the Snapdragon 7 series, and just use binned 8 series SoCs. T... moreEven binned 8 series still gonna cost at least 3x more than 7 series chip.
Chip like 7g4 is not even $100, 8 series is already above $300.
Binned chip will not be below $200.
Binned chips I suppose
Presumably not. This will likely be the same price and they'll blame supply chain.
Supply chain being the go to word for, "give us more money for less!"
