According to the terms of use on the German website, the Ultra2 isn't actually waterproof, as it can only be used in distilled water; use in water containing salt or pool chemicals is excluded, as are diving and water sports.

my problem now is not with the hardware but rather the software:
-when i put the watch to charge it blinks for a millisecond the battery% which I cannot see, and the other potion is to show it always which makes the watch charge slower
-most of watch faces fail to update time while in AoD
-I cannot set the alarm sound on the watch as I did on Watch4
-lots of useful apps and faces are not compatible any more with latest Wear OS which does not seem interesting enough for developers to update their apps.
I gave up a very old Galaxy Watch 4 for a Watch 8 and the overall experience is unbelievebly worse.

YUKI93, 23 Jul 2026Imagine 800mAh battery with TizenOS. That would easily be the battery champ for the Watch Ultra2.Yeah, from what I read, it seems my Gear S3 was a better watch 10 years ago than anything later. 🤦♂️
And the one I played around with for a bit at a store a couple of years ago seemed way more stuttery and the whole OS just way worse so I simply gave up on Samsung watches when they moved away from Tizen. 🤷♂️

One more thing i don't understand why they stick to LTE with this generation watches. Snapdragon Elite supposedly supports 5G Redcap that itself should be more energy efficent rather than LTE 5G?!

Until Samsung make a public statement that they won't use nor even consider using user's health data to train AI, I wouldnt touch Samaung wearable ever again. And that's sad since Samsung is the only one moving WearOS forward.

They can't decide whether to use their own chipset or Snapdragon in their phones and now it is the same in watches
Hopefully that them choosing Qualcomm now means they'll stick with it so that they'll finally optimize their software for one platform
On the side note, isn't it funny that they were proud of using 8 Elite Gen5 on Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra, but they didn't mention at all the chipset on the Flip8, which is the Exynos 2600?
Samsung stopped even pretending they care with that slop all the way on the keynote. Samsung is losing in the phone market and they don't know what they should do. Well, maybe they should stop trying to be Apple in all the bad ways and do "their own thing" as well as listen to their customers?

Swu2, 22 Jul 2026Samsung says battery use 60hours with AOD and 100hours without. 35% bigger battery then Watch ... morei get slightly more than 1 day aod and 2.5 with display off on my watch 7 so i believe samsung's numbers more. perhaps cnet's watch is new and it is still recording baseline data or installing apps while it was being tested.

Samsung says battery use 60hours with AOD and 100hours without. 35% bigger battery then Watch Ultra and Wear OS 6 vs 7 10% boost. But couple of first endurance test (Cnet and couple youtubers who got watch early) shows only 2-2.5 days battery life with proper use. Not that great, unoptimised software or is this 5000nits display eating all up. I dont know.
