I mean, let's check the Xiaomi's 15-17 base sales over the Pro bigger phones or the Vivo's X300 sales over the Pro.
Are they so lower? Don't think so.
Asus should have upgraded Zenfone 10 with at least 3 major Os support, modern display, battery and cameras and so on. If their only features are audio jack and dimensions, it won't sell for sure at those prices!

I loved how featuremaxxed they were amidst the industry's decade-plus trend of homogenizing features away. The last couple of gens were starting to compromise that too, though. It'd be nice to see them return with a vengeance someday when the RAMpocalypse ends, but I know it's a long shot. Gonna take good care of mine.

As long as Nubia will keep selling 3 times more and better specced phone for half price of Asus there is no way Asus will return back.
They cannot fight competition.
Just like the LG or HTC withdrawn from market this going to be same.

In other words people wants bigger over smaller phones.
You cant feed market with small tiny horrible specced phones with laughable endurance rating for a price of flagship.
Noone buys that.
Most people wants the best phone for the best price.
Trust me small phones are not part of that world.
Basic google pixel also does not sells much over bigger siblings same goes for Samsung S series like S26 series for example.
People always wanted best possible and best specced phone for a lowest possble price easy reason why xiaomi and other chinese brands dominate the market.

Noone is interested in creepy small phone with small specs for exurbitant price as basic pixel or Samsung S series do.
Bigger always better and always sells more and more often thats a reliyty noone can deny.

I think it was an MKB video talking about the ROG, that they made a niche product that abandoned everything that made them special to appeal to a wider range of buyers, and in doing that, appealed to no one. In particular, changes to the larger size really killed them. Pour one out.

Bussilum.UL, 22 Jul 2026i really hope asus comes back with this, because we have already lost Nokia, ericsson, LG and HTCHate to say it but Asus should probably stay dead as a smartphone OEM, all they did was ruin what good things they had going for them. They had the flip camera for a couple generations and got rid of it. Then they downsized to sub-6" phones for a few generations and ditched that. Once they got rid of what made them unique, their phones just became overpriced and poorly supported junk, which is why they aren't around anymore.

Why not try a new ROG gaming handheld like Ayaneo? Or a cheaper gaming phone like the Nubia Neo or Infinix GT? Meanwhile, Lenovo and RedMagic have taken their gaming phones to the next level and they’ve even moved into the tablet space.

Bussilum.UL, 22 Jul 2026i really hope asus comes back with this, because we have already lost Nokia, ericsson, LG and HTCEricsson was sold to Sony way before the time of smartphones so in some way we can say it's still around. Not as bad faith as Nokia went trough to be sold to MS that then drop it in few years and then with this HMD that then started to make the brand name even worse brand name damage.
Asus was not long in the phones business and it wasn't doing anything special on it's own even. Was just expensive from the start while tried to slide on the fame the brand was making with the gaming hardware on Desktop computers like motherboards and graphics cards while even in there was not a old fish like Gigabyte that also jump on the train when smartphones come out to be a new trend as all started to make smartphone when touchscreen phones started to come to market. LG probably on the list is the most best that was innovating to make phones and well it still makes parts for phones
