Executives are not answerable to shareholders, they're answerable to their superiors and at the top is the Samsung CEO. Shareholders cannot veto decisions made by the executives, they are not involved in the management of the company. Samsung is the shareholder of those subsidiaries and Samsung appoints the managers of those subsidiaries. The subsidiaries all work together under Samsung.

Not interested in foldable (the crease of the inner screen + the cutout for camera, huh) and yet I'm interested in this model. But 2k for these camera seems like a joke, they recycle the same hardware since S22 or even S21 ... No innovation what so ever in the photo dept, even worse when pushing updates in S23U that downgrade the photo quality ...

When company executives make important decisions that can significantly affect the business generally they need approval from the shareholders. Samsung has shareholders. If the shareholders don't approve proposals proposed by the executives, they can't proceed. I didn't say that shareholders made decisions, but they can approve or reject proposals or decisions of executives. Shareholders also approve appointments of members of the board of directors who control the executives. This is how companies work.
Anyway, the point is that subsidiaries are separate companies and that they don't work together; they are independent from one another.

Samsung can control them, but important decisions that can significantly impact them generally require approval from shareholders. Also, the point of having subsidiaries is to diversify to reduce business risk. If you have two subsidiaries, and one has profits and another sustains losses, you may have net profits. You don't have subsidiaries to have them work together.

The Wide is nice, but everything else is gimped. The only thing going for the Wide is the Front panel being wider. Too bad it also means, its shorter so you see some content better but you lose some too.

I think Samsung has finally learned how to best design a foldable. I am now interested in it. But the price is too high for me. Samsung will need to work on its price.

With Fold 8 Wide prices that are already bloated for what hardware it's boasting; it makes sense. Fold 8 Wide should have been the budget Fold; I still think it should have been closer to $1300 or $1400 but what do I know? I bought all 3 of my foldables used and together they were still under $800. It's possible to find very reasonable deals on top tier devices; folks!

The Huawei Pura X actually makes more sense. This is too wide and hard to hold to be adopted conventionally. Apple chose this form factor so it doesn't cannibalise the sales of their other established phones.

That wide design is what people are looking for, including me. But 50 mp cameras are a shame in a 2000 dollars phone. So i'll wait for the version 2 next year with hopefully a 200 mp main camera, or maybe the S27 Pro.
