The ultra is not even a tablet when ... moreMKBHD has pointed the problem with the previous Fold, now Fold Ultra's aspect ratio for some time. Not wide enough for film, not long enough for text content. Only merit is on system level, duo app has more working space.
I'm eyeing the new Fold now, at least 4:3 aspect ratio is a proper 'used' aspect ratio. That and, while it has Qualcomm, now I have upgrade option from Flip6 which I hold it out due to Exynos.

I want a foldable that is the same wide as the wide and the same tall as the ultra. For me that's the perfect device.

The ultra is not even a tablet when it opens up, no tablet app supports 1:1, just a square ph9ne screen, it has minimal use case.
The non ultra is the real star because it has an actual tablet aspect ratio, 4:3 which is is one of the optimized aspect ratios along with 3:2 and 16:10 for tablets. You get a slew of popular apps optimized precisely for that aspect ratio.
The irony that the ultra is garbage experience , and the non ultra is the premium software experience this year, lol. Samsung is gaslighting us to the max with their naming convention this year.
I don't complain, it means that the real premium foldable would actually be the cheaper one, lol.

Working in the right retail environment gives a hands on with them every year before the announcement. I had my hands on both last week. Shorter and wider is very nice to hold, one handed use is very easy compared to the Folds we have been used to. Open it up and it's MUCH wider, more 16:9 aspect ratio, than the 4:3 of the Ultra. The crease is still there, BUT very much reduced compared to the F7.

I have an £1,800 fold 7 but by the time I took advantage of Samsung's trade in deals and discounts, I paid £987 pre-launch - technically I did have to buy two old tablets to trade in for a combined total of £40. The secret is to get on Reddit and find the best way of stacking codes. If you can afford to buy it outright, which not everybody can, it can save you a fortune. I have a £10 per month SIM, and therefore pay £1230 over two years. My friend's contract/phone deal is almost £2000 for two years!

This is actually OUTRAGEOUS at this stage. It's a hard pass and I'll NEVER be buying one.. Not in the last 8 generations (where we thought prices would come Down for this "new tech").. and not in the next decade either. No thanks. Ever. I'll stick with a phone AND tablet for CHEAPER

NGL, I am kinda bummed that the battery capacity and tech, and the ingress protection are far behind that of Honor and Oppo, at a more premium price. At that price the ultra should habe a 7300mah silicon carbonate battery, with at least an ip 59 rating.

There's talk of the Flip 8 being the last. Could be they're thinking the Wide will replace it. It's already only 20 grams heavier and thinner with bigger battery and screens...
When you think about it, relatively the Flip is a disappointment in terms of its size and weight and smaller battery. They probably just can't get it any smaller.
