I have two PC setups; The first setup I own; (Main PC Setup) has 2 32" 165hz monitors and my Secondary PC setup I have has one 32" 165hz monitor and a 27" 280hz monitor. Just a little information from the Tech World: if 60fps was all that was visible; companies wouldn't bother with 120fps or more. I think you need to do some research and see just how far tech has advanced since 2014 my dude.
My Brother has a 32" MSI OLED that does 240hz and a TCL 27" that does 300hz on his one and only PC setup. And he runs his titles at 4k on average. So yes its ABSOLUTELY because I'm looking at monitors that are only 120hz.

I upgraded my 970 to an amd 6700xt and noticed an immediate difference in the amount of time lightroom took to process tasks light noise reduction

I used to love NVIDIA because their graphics cards and software were simply better than AMD's Radeon lineup. But then they betrayed their loyal customers for a quick buck, and that is more then once. Typical corporate greed: no loyalty, no pride, no prestige, just money. I hope they fall as fast as a roller coaster, then just derail cause they no worth the name anymore.
AMD had the chance to take their place a lomg time now, but apparently they also busy being sellouts, so who cares?

Yordan, 10 Jul 2026The last good Nvidia card was the 3090TI. Everything that came afterwards is a waste of money.... morenot quite. The last good one was 1080TI. After that everyone tried to convince people that playing on 4k is the future with some super ray,laser,ai, upscaling... you name it.

Even though I only spent $300 each on both of my 5060s it really helps running large titles at 1080p. I can get around 200fps on the Spiderman titles with everything pretty much set to max thanks to help with DLSS FrameGen (I actually use FSR because it's somehow more reliable on those specific games) and for other titles such as FragPunk I get around 300fps on Direct X12 with everything set to max on DLSS 3x. Idk about you but I actually like seeing good modern performance out of my cards. It's good to know that not only do I not have to drop $1000 on a GPU; but that I can get good performance on a lot of titles at 1080p and even 2k; with settings set from medium to max. That DLSS 4x is a game changer too. I had a 3050 at one point and it was nice yes it ran my titles fine at lower settings but 5060 has been the best experience hands down. I'm only familiar with classifying the 30 series cards and higher; but imo City Skylines is a stinky game and doesn't even look as it should require even close to the graphic performance it does compared to say; Cyberpunk 2077. It's a mini scale game; honestly reminds me of mobile's Pocket City. I'm sure your card works for you but I'm telling you; the 5060 was worth it (Back when they were being sold for $299; at least) and made a HUGE difference. Some of us want to be able to hit those 300fps.
I will add I had AMD video hardware and it was useless. Wasted $700 between an ROG Ally and a 9060xt. Both gave me Video Memory allocation errors even though both were brand new; and while the 9060xt since I've bought it works ok now on my second PC (The PC I bought it to begin with) and will run titles; it still can't hit numbers close to the second 5060 I had bought to replace the 9060xt among the same titles (Primarily FragPunk). I decided when I first got the 9060xt shortly after to pair it with an Intel B570 and then eventually ripped the 9060xt out to replace it with my second 5060 purchase; and now my secondary PC just runs a 5060 with a B570 below. And trust me I've been through 4 GPUs and 5 CPUs on that one secondary PC alone. Unfortunately my nicest AMD CPU; the Ryzen 7 5800XT broke so I'm now running a Ryzen 7 5700X. Not bad but still would have liked that boost from the XT.
Also you're running 4GB of GDDR5 Memory; what are your City Skylines settings; 480p low? My brother said his 5080 only gets maybe 60fps max with his settings and when we tried my 9060xt in his PC it was getting no more than 30fps... and he runs AM5 my builds are AM4. Your card is from 2014. I think if you saw what even a 4060 8GB could do you'd be happy with results.

It was supposed to be NVIDIA Architecture; the word switch was a typo but the post cleared it's editing timer before I could edit it. That's why I grouped it in next to the 5060. I had an AMD arch ROG ally at one point and have a 9060xt I'm trying to get rid of; and both were useless pieces of carp. Compared to that I've had 0 issues with anything NVIDIA; including the Switch and Switch 2 consoles.

I had someone tell me that the 5090s were burning up and catching fire on their power ports because of how consumers installed them. No. It's because of the power ports on the card; or the cord that came with the card. That's not the consumers fault. I'd never get a 5090 or a 6090; it's highly unnecessary especially with 5090 cards literally catching fire. It's literally potentially throwing money into the fire pit. That and the people who go to buy a card and receive a brick or a rock instead that weighs about the same as the card they bought. I will however say; I think I'll try to go for the 6060 when it comes out however as I don't remember hearing about the Super cards even being released yet I don't think NVIDIA is going to be on schedule. Who knows though.
