This is actually great news. In Mexico they're forcing everyone to tie their phone numbers with their ID and biometrics (despite the database being leaked so many times before) with the deadline starting in August. So the only option to still have a phone number so far was to get a SIM from America but all carriers had policies about being actually in America once in a while. The timing of this offer by Motorola couldn't be more perfect!

If they cant even bother take simple picture of their own device for marketing/advertising imagine what companies will do to save few bucks on devices...

The idea of making it easy for people to switch is great. But would be greater if carriers stopped grossly overcharging roaming. This can be quite a pain if you for whatever reason happens to be close to a border, and the 'foreign' net is substantially stronger.
