justasmile, 29 Jun 2026Warranty isn't a 'repair period' where after that you cannot repair the phone. ... moreYes right but with my casual luck rather change my phone every 2 years when my warranty goes off and sell my old phone while it still have a decent value than keep it for 5-10 years or even longer because a 1000 eur flagship can easily last that long.
And rather will have more wearrynty than more years of updates.
Old phones have zero or close to zero value.
When your phone breaks repair cost way too much. So a free repair is a more velcomed than years of updates.
Because even old unsupported phones for android upodates still gets an updates for apps. And phone can perfectly working even 10-15 years. Know several people using old Samsung S4 or even galaxy young, redmi 4x etc.

SABERTOOTH, 29 Jun 2026Isnt bootloader unlocking simply given in developer options already? That's only the first step to unlocking the bootloader, all this switch does in Android is let you type in the fastboot oem unlock command. When that switch is completely gone, you can't unlock the bootloader (like on Samsungs running One UI 8, unless you flipped the switch while still on One UI 7)

No surprise for this being a rebranded Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2.

It's just free coverage from non-accidental damage, and you can pay (a smaller fee than to buy a new phone) to repair it.

For the prices, yeah you're unlucky

Easy reason i am saying all phones and tablets should have warranty in years equal to updates and a warranty shgoulôd be more important than years of updates.
Because as long your device will perfectly working your apps will works and gets updated too.
UI updates or androoid updates does not matter much since you gets only cosmetics.
Past several years nothing much improved in android nor even IOS maybe apart boring AI which does not interest 95% of the world and low cost devices haave no use for AI.

                  [deleted post]Dude you wrong.
Time money and manufacturers proven your phone can easily last 10-15 years and will works very well. Your apps will run. Whether you have new phone for for example Samsung S4 your facebgook will work your other social apps will work. Your brownser will works too. Years of updates and security patches are a good one but if you dont use banking apps and you have nothing to hide it does not matters.
Rather would be for 5+ years of warranty than 10+ years of updates.

And with 700 repair i hit a very low cost service centre at least for my country Slovakia.

J, 27 Jun 2026Anything with less than 5 years of OS upgradability is electronic waste, no matter the specs. This is not iOS. You don't need whole OS update to keep the device usable. Google play library update will take care of it.

Like how the Note 3 that was supposedly too weak to run Android 6 managed to get an Android 11-based LineageOS cfw as its last update.
