        I wish they would restrict power to 5 W, even laptops with 15 W chips use active cooling

          chip manufacturers : naming - for convenience and ease of use - no;
          using name to confuse every one - yes

                      Lousy Naming. Instead of Continuing the number line from 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and so on from the Original Snapdragon 8 Gen naming. They went Elite 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. What's next? Snapdragon Ultra??

                      Seriously, What's stopping Qualcomm from using the original name and number? Especially If apple can name their SoCs A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, up to A19 Pro chipset?

                          It used to be a simple lineup before, even with the introduction of 8 Elite. Since 8 Elite Gen 5, things have gone really confusing.

                                They may release a new Snapdragon 7 series, but I don’t think they will go for a 6 or 4 series for now, at least within 1.5 years.

                                    Jemek, 26 Jun 2026Even more confusion for the consumer. But they forget that too many choices confuses the buyer... moreToo many names and took many choices that seem quite similar is such a turn off. I gave up trying to follow Intel chip names and Snapdragon X. If it's not clear what's best and how it's better than the 2nd best then consumers just tune it out and don't pick any of them because they are afraid of making the wrong choice.
