In particular Asus. ... moreBut some people here think brands like Sony, Asus, Htc can sell devices with 8Eg5 + 12gb ram + 512gb storage + triple camera + gorilla victus 2 + ip68 + 5000mAh + 7 OS updates for price of pixel 10 / iphone 17 / xiaomi 17 / galaxy S25 FE when costs are higher compared to those brands.
Phone A costs $500 to be made ..
Phone B costs $700 to be made.
They think if brand that makes Phone A sells more , then brand that makes Phone B should sell it cheaper than Phone A.

In particular Asus. ... moreAsus, Moto, Sony were never niche before, they are already niche when they only make flagships... Asus started making phones in 2006, Sony since the Ericsson era and Moto even longer. Xiaomi just started making phones in 2012 with little resources unlike Asus Sony which has been making cameras, motherboards etc. before just shows how good Xiaomi is.

In particular Asus. Asus is mainly a motherboard and computer brand. They never were a really big brand in the smartphone market. Even in Taiwan, when I worked there, they were only a kind of niche brand in the smartphone market. That's exactly my point. These small niche brands can't really compete with powerhouses like Samsung and Xiaomi. You have to be large to survive long term. The larger you are the more powerful you are in terms of achieving better prices and contracts for components and preferable treatment. Look at Xiaomi for example. For the last few years they are given priority by Qualcomm for the launch of their new flagship chipsets. Smaller brands just have to find their own niche market and can't even try to compete with the big players. The smaller you get, the worse it gets. We may also see a fairly big player in the Chinese smartphone industry disappear over the coming years as the competition there is so fierce and the market is quite mature now.

Motorola looks like the ... moreNeo 50 and 60 have LTPO .
Endurance is better than Edge and Edge Fusion siblings.
Hard to imagine it with 6000mAh when edge has 4900 and fusion has variant with 5200.
Except SoC, I suspect SoC and common screen, I think it may be almost equal do Edge 2026 sold in USA .

"...the Edge 70 Pro runs Hello UI, a pretty and colorful take on Android 16". In what way is Hello UI colorful? It's stock android without Material 3, so it doesn't even have colours in the main settings menu like a Pixel does.

Was really looking forward to the updated Pro & Neo, but they increased the size and price for the former and kept the same underpowered chipset for the latter!
The only other option I was considering (only because it's the only phone left with 3.5mm HP Jack & microSD slot) was the Edge Stylus but it too uses an outdated chipset!
The smartphone landscape is in a very boring state imho, smh!!😑
No affordable small phone options (except Edge Neo)
No phones with actual features which are still very useful (3.5mm HP Jack, micro SD slot, USB 3.2), except Sony ofc, but they also killed the 5 series and their 10 series is again really outdated with limited availability

Sharp does most people not know exists, ony as the brand they bought something from 20+ years ago.

Not really sold in carriers in Europe for example whereas the like of Xiaomi will be sold by most carriers (mostly just sold online). Many sales in Europe for example are through carriers. They seem to be selling pretty well in some reasons like India and I think also in some South American countries. Sales of all brands mostly depend on availability and marketing though. Motorola spends very little on this relative to all the other Chinese brands and smaller brands just can't compete for sales with larger more powerful brands. Smaller brands like Motorola are also at a massive disadvantage in terms of supply chain as they have to pay more for components and get lower priority compared to the much larger competitors. It's really hard for small brands to survive. You need to be large to survive long term. Most of the smaller Chinese brands have failed to survive e.g. Meizu, Smartisan and Gionee. There may be further exits in the future.
