justasmile, 07 Jun 202617T Pro doesn't deserve to be more popular than 17T.17T and 17T Pro have little different (β) besides from dimensions and SoC, but the price difference seems insane! Hm. Anyway, yeah, Xiaomi needs to drop back down 20% with their prices and be the kings again. Including being able to unlock the bootloader, ofc!
*as is the case, thankfully! (else I would never buy, π)
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2026Xiaomi = overpriced junk?Xiaomi stayed limited to ~10% profit, for a LONG time; & not just like a gimmick. Even after they had launched the OnePlus brand..π
Unfortunately, something happened (β) and they came away from that philosophy in recent years. I don't want to see them fail, but... you know.

Sure, the phone's prices here are currently much lower than EU (17T:~$490, Pro:~$660) but these will likely never get a price cut more than $50 even during certain promotional periods, like any other phones.

Europeans have better options that Americans, but the pricing is high for Chinese brands. This is why I prefer importing Chinese phones.
Some uneducated people might continue to prefer the usual Samsung/Apple over these brands.
Chinese brands don't market their phones as heavily as Samsung/Apple. They need to fix that.

So it's a European problem, that the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with.

In my country 17t pro costs as a regular Xiaomi 17, Galaxy S26, Iphone 17 and 250 euros more than the older 15t pro. Crazy price. No thank you.
I can get iqoo's last year's flagship with Xiaomi 17T's price. Iqoo has better spec minus the camera and has support for external monitor via USB cable if you need to get better view of your photos/videos.

I do believe that a price cut can fix that. It's not a bad or ugly phone, just it's sold at a ridiculous price. At half of that price, it would be an interesting offer.
btw, I liked the article!
There is nothing too expensive its not xiaomi problem people dont earn enough to afford their phones.
Something like Samsung Google or Apple cost a lot more and offers a lot less.
