I've been doing that for ages, I'd get AI-spoofed calls every now and then, but if you let it ring and drop by itself that is the best outcome for you. Even hanging up tells them there is a person on the other end of that number so they might try again. If you pick up you are screwed.
I recently picked up on one such unknown number on autopilot, because the day was hectic with many calls. It dawned on me what I did only a second after that.... "Hey, it's me Katie" - I was about to say "No you are not" but that would also be a mistake cuz now they probably would have a recording of my voice to spoof other people so I just hung up. Even then, the next 3 days, I'd get up to 10 of these calls a day, each time different numbers, I was about to go to my company and request a number change. Luckily they stopped after that.
NEVER pick up on an unknown number, except when you are expecting a call from an unknown number - in that case the time this calls happens should be an indication for you to pick up. Even then, most businesses have their numbers public so even if you don't have it saved, most of the time it shows as their name on the screen when they call.
What I found out during my misfortune was that DND mode on Android actually limits who can call you to only those in your phonebook, didn't know that. If the caller is not in your contacts, it gets auto-rejected even before it rings on your end. This is a much better feature that what Google is proposing here. And we already have it.

Shouldn't information about the next Pixel 11 be coming out already? I mean, if the launch is in August again, it's almost here...

You know who is the detector? Yourself. Just don't pickup or drop unknown numbers and let it go by itself so they will mark your number as not active. And delete suspicious sms and mms messages.

Well okay sounds good maybe too good to be true.
Whats the next step by fakes. They finds a reason or way how to obey this then new call protection app will be released and then another new way to obey new call protection app will be made by impopsters and scammers.
This will have no end.

Google dialed is horrible! Barley any settings, not to say no auto silent call recording without announcement either.

But not for calls, I rather do it the regular way.
