I highly regret to say that my "own" laptop that is from "2013" can run AI "locally" .

TomatoSauce, 01 Jun 2026You gonna rent it and be unhappyThat’s the plan. Everything now comes with an ABSURD price tag, and instead of ownership, we’re being pushed into rental plans, subscriptions, leases, and debt just to keep consuming.

Look at cars. I used to wonder how so many people could afford 40k+ vehicles while I was looking for a replacement to my 800€ very used car (I kept it obviously, I have no other choice lol). Now it’s clear: most of them don’t own them. They’re renting the lifestyle.

Nobody owns anything, but everyone is still responsible for the payments, the risk, and the consequences. In the US, they even offer “buy now, pay later” for food. FOOD. That alone tells you where this is going.

We won’t be allowed to save. We’ll just keep giving them everything we earn while smiling so we don’t lose our social status. Slavery didn’t disappear. It was rebranded.

It's probably going to be hit very hard by power limits and memory bandwidth. You can't just throw 300W+ at a relatively compact laptop and hope for the best, and the DGX Spark this is based on only had 256bits of LPDDR5X which is nowhere near what the GPU is actually going to need (yes they could be using 9600 instead of 8533 but I don't see that making the difference).
