xPandamon, 2 hours agoA ton of products are using USB-C nowadays so there is straight up no need to include a charge... moreAll the other ones are low-power devices, a laptop's or at least the phone's is the one (powerful) charger one needs in their life. And by the time a normal person actually needs a new phone/laptop, the charging standards or even the USB-C will change. That's why it's utter nonsense.
Just like mandating USB-C on phones which was a standard by itself anyway, just like microUSB was for a decade before, was utter nonsense and waste of time and (our!) money.
Banning devices with built-in and glued batteries would be a massive improvement for the environtment. This is 100% pure greenwashing as long as the very same manufacturers produce mountains of e-waste with e.g. headphones which last 2 years due to glued batteries instead of their normal lifespan of 10-20 years and prevent usage of normal (like USB, standardised to the 3,5 mm on their own over the years) headphones in the first place, phones which basically get intentionally slowed down with "OS upgrades" or also killed by their glued batteries; as long as 50-95 % of internet traffic and energy spent by a phone/PC is content that one doesn't want to see aka ads and other garbage, we might add the new AI slop to all of that...
This is like a garden hose to stop a wildfire, with the garden hose costing millions upon millions of our money.

What? this already been long time ago but stup!d people in eu brussel has no clue that gaming laptops CAN'T have weak usb-c as it requires 300W adapter and they would end up melting with connectors same like nvidia !

2. EU has already made expections for charging above 100w, might later increase this limit slowly to upto 240w
3. The EU is trying to cover most of the devices not all.
4. Also EU says that usb c should be one option of charging port for laptops but laptops can have additional charging ports eg apple laptop support usb but default come with magsafe.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2026So… no more MagSafe? Bummer.Apart from compulsory USB C (charging capable as well) anything else depends on the manufacturers they can include anything for charging like magnets, lasers etc. But they can't remove USB C (with charging capability).
Apple's approach is better than others. They offers perfect wireless charging (because of magnets, which btw also now become part for qi 2 standard thanks to Apple)
But I would like to see an iPhone with MacBook style magsafe charging with pogo pins and the usb c port covered with a flap with is used for data transfers.
This will boost reliability to next level with three charging methods.

jiyen235, 30 Apr 2026you've missed the plot completely and you're making assumptions based on nothingApparently, for you, the laws of physics are "nothing". I explained to you from the point of view of physics why Oppo's technology is better in terms of heating from charging. Even when other things being equal.

When connected in series, the voltage is doubled, which allows the charger to deliver high power at lower current levels to each cell. The lower current reduces heating during charging compared to phones with one whole cell and a high charging current, such as Vivo. Also, when the battery is made of 2 cells, it is larger in area than one whole cell and this helps to dissipate heat better and faster. The phone will be 2-3-4 degrees cooler when charging.
