There should be more back up provider options, not just Meta or Google/Apple. I would like to back up the files to my Proton Drive and everyone should be able to use their own cloud service provider. I believe European Union is preparing something related to that.

They already dig deep in everyone conversations and media people send to each other... Why would they want to store them?
I wonder if they bough all that hardware(ram, ssd) and build datacenters for AI and realize that AI they use dont really need it so now they need to use those data centers somehow to show investors that it was not just rushed idea just to keep bubble floating...

whats important is the backed up and restored data (pics videos, audio clips etc) taken/created date and time info is preserved,
and perhaps a feature to correct all messed up media dates when WhatsApp was backed up and restored previously
