But yes you have a point. Having a super telephoto lens and 1/1.12" sensor camera all in your pocket does feel pretty awesome.

Not that surprising. It's like saying ice cream sales are decreasing during winter. What would be a more meaningful metric are the micro-changes from a few years ago, and comparing within the camera market instead of outside. Full-frame cameras seem to be decreasing in sales while entry-mid-level APS-C bodies are increasing in sales.

Today's most trending "real cameras" are actually compact large-sensor cameras. Have you not seen tiktok people and their obsession with the Fujifilm X100VI? Young folks are literally screaming for these cameras like a child wanting ice cream.

Wonder if there is any reason why they won't make the 400mm teleconverter compatible with the X300 and X300s. Just because they are slightly cheaper devices? Or because there is a limitation with their telephoto lens. Any thoughts?

If I were a phone manufacturer, I'd be thrilled that all "we" need to do is pump a little bit of money into marketing and can still effortlessly create fanboys that will not only blindly buy whatever we push out regardless of price while never even trying out or just informing themselves about the far superior alternative but also personally stand to defend our pride or whatever it is you think you're doing.
You don't even understand how much some people don't care about bragging, any sales stats, one or the other industry or whatever else you're trying to push the discussion to to avoid facts about where and what about the smartphone/"cameraphone" market is in 2026.
A web search taking you 20 seconds would tell you that your Kodak story is as much BS as the "advances" in phone cameras over the past years you believe in and Kodak was in fact one of the pioneers that invested heavily in digital photo tech way before you and even I were even born.
My questions about why the allegedly great cameraphones don't have any useful easily implementable features of the real cameras you're, naturally, avoiding, but never mind. We all know the answer to those, it's just fascinating and quite sad that the average gullible buyer not only accepts, but defends such anti-consumer practices that create far worse products for themselves and all of us.

The smartphone industry has more innovation in the last five years compared to your precious "real camera" industry. In fact, there's almost no new DSLR in the last decade. Even the mirrorless ones doesn't have much improvements over the last 5 years. If you see CIPA's recent survey, camera sales had declined from 109 million in 2009 to just under 2 million in 2024. And many younger generation do not even want to use a real camera, let alone own one. This is a fact, you can check it yourself.
So... saying that incremental innovation in smartphone industry is useless is like the kodak top management saying that digital camera innovation is useless compared to their top of the line analog cameras. And we saw what happened to kodak afterwards. People who failed to adapt will eventually lose, even if they were the "master" or the "pros" in the industry. Besides, this is a smartphone forum; if you want to brag about "real camera" then go to somewhere else that cater to your needs...

But batteries should also have been a non-issue, like they are on e.g. real cameras. It's the fact that we accepted planned obsolescence with non-removable batteries that got us to being thrilled about a bit more capacity instead of having a full charge within 5 seconds. I also had an amazing Chinese phone with 5000 mAh in 2014, when the norm was 2500-3000, so the fact anyone does over 5 or 6 k now isn't amazing, it's yet another proof of how much smartphones have been stagnating.
Night photography is also a joke, 5 years ago or now, for anyone who's ever used a real DSLR. Cameras 10-15 years old costing used, with lens(es), well under the additional price of an Ultra over a regular flagship eat any phone costing 2000 โฌ current or 5 years in the future for breakfast. They only get away with overpromising and underdelivering year after year after year because most people have never held a real camera in their hands. I used to be just as naive, and now it's even more obvious than ever that nothing more or new will happen, and given that they're still increasing prices, it's just a sad waste of people's money to get some company richer.
The software is maybe even the worst thing about it all. Windows Mobile was more capable 20 years ago in many ways than iOS and Android that have only dumbed our mobile devices down are now.

Day photography is meh , barely a difference unless you are some mega photographer or whatever. Even performance is meh. For most things outside gaming there is nothing that phones do now that was not done equally well 5 years ago.
So the idea that hpjes stagnated is both right and wrong. Depends who you ask. To me my phone is a background distraction. It will never be my main device, so who cares.
The ones that are my main devices are far from stagnated. We got the first sub Libre tablet in history that is decently size (over 12 inch screen). They still have ways to go batteries now that Si/c is being aggressively developed. Same with cooling systems (most good tablets still overheat like mad). But above all software, google finally decided to kill chrome os and merge its productivity chops to android. Finally my tablet has a proper linix shell . And hopefully soon desktop apps when I'd turn it into a mini laptop.
Exciting times ahead if they don't give up on the software side of thing. Already they are as powerful as most laptops in practical things, they just lack the software capabilities.

X300 is the same sh as X200, X200 like X100 etc. You couldn't tell photos from a 5-6 generations old phone apart from ones made with a new one without reading their EXIF data, nor between a regular flagship or even a mid-ranger and an "Ultra". Between a photo made with any of them and one from a camera worth 200 โฌ used everyone could. Nor can you do anything more with that Ultra like you can a lot of things with the real thing. There's nothing innovative or exciting happening with phones and their cameras unless you believe their silly ads. Again, where are the features that actual cameras have and could easily be imlemented on a "cameraphone"?
Don't care about "luxury" brands personally and would never pay several hundred % extra to have someone's name written on my t-shirt.
Inflation is only part of it (high end TVs cost 2000 โฌ 20 years ago and cost that today while becoming better in almost every way), the other part is people falling for cheap marketing and "upgrading" phones no matter how much these are stagnating in every way and becoming worse in others.

Phone prices will increase no matter what. That's the result of inflation. And it will only get worse after the war (taiwan lost their helium & energy source after their supplier was hit by missiles)

You could get the Sony a7R V body only and used for this price or get something like a Fujifilm X-H2 or X-H2S and get an insanely sharp lens and probably still have some money left over. Yes, buying a camera and a flagship phone is more expensive than just buying a phone that is your camera, but 95% of users would be fine with a sub-โฌ500 phone anyway. It is undeniably a great phone but I'm not spending the best part of โฌ2,000 on one.

I have a "mid-range" Sony camera with 24mp sensor, it fits into a small shoulder bag and most of the time I just carry it around hanging around my neck. It takes photos that are better than any phone can take to date.
But I am not gonna stop you, go ahead and buy a phone and carry teleconverter oenses in your pocket and start screwing them on on your phone when you want to take a photo.

That there isn't any progress for years, yet phones cost more and more thanks to people getting hyped up by empty marketing. Or that they're selling "Ultras" for 1000 โฌ plus over the regular flagship with no advantages when that same money gets one a real camera (2-4 used ones or an amazing set with lenses, speedlights, a tripod etc.) with huge advantages. In addition to a flagship, that is.
Even the things that are easily doable aren't happening on so called cameraphones, only BS is. Why?
Where is my card slot? High-end pro cameras, which an Ultra can replace according to the ads, keynotes, and what some commenters say, don't even have one but two, which you can use in various ways depending on your needs. Where's my 3,5 mm jack? Same story, pro cameras have two, one for headphones for monitoring your recording or playback, one for an external stereo mic. Where's any sort of a usable flash? Cameras have a built-in Xenon flash and/or a hotshoe enabling yet another world of photography a person wasting money on a new "Ultra" will never even know exists. Replaceable battery? Cameras have those so you can have a nice long shooting day, just need 5 seconds to replace an empty one with a full one. Not even a 2-stage shutter button on anything but Sony Xperia.
Fyi, you don't actually lose the ability or the right to use a phone if you buy a camera. ๐ You can stream from your normal 1000 โฌ phone, the 2000 โฌ one does nothing more. Or you can stream from the real camera over HDMI using that phone.
Nah, no one goes from a real camera to this, unless they're incapable of learning how to use it.

The zoom sensor is clearly worse
And the ultra wide is the same.
Why were you considering to throw away the x200 ultra. It is on par or better on certain scenes. It is biut e waste, it is about keeping the better pocket camera.

Forget x300 pro and x300 ultra.
X200 ultra remains the king of low light zoom photgraphy.
At 400mm nothing would stop it.

Great, was thinking would be an unnecessary waste since I still love my dark red 1TB Vivo X200 Ultra kit set too much to give it up this soon within less than one year. (Especially how Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra got no such special color)
So I can flexibly buy 400mm G2 Ultra lens alone to try beforehand, then decide to buy Vivo X300 Ultra or not for full 200MP. And even to further wait for 2027's Vivo X400 Ultra and Oppo Find X10 Ultra. (Because replacing phone every year is still just too often and costly even if I can afford, data transfer and old phones disposal are also issues beyond money)

Unless your "real camera" can do live streaming to youtube by itself, then just shut up. The people who buy this teleconverter kits are more likely have already owned expensive & bulky cameras at home and found out that they don't fit certain needs...
