Which develo... moreHello fellow Sri Lankan! π
The developer is called "Omobio", that uses the exact same white labeling technique for all those carrier, payment and bank apps. Pretty disappointed that what they do is pretty counterintuitive for a majority of users here, given the fact that all imported items are in fact, a luxury.
And to make matters worse, all Chinese phones sold here have comparatively higher adware and bloatware baked-in despite the higher price tags compared to a majority of countries in the world (which makes sense to why a lot of grey imported phones are from MENA, while our regional market devices are no different from India and LATAM), so in case if you didn't understand my context earlier, this is the reason why I'd rather use GrapheneOS compared to the poor quality of software for our regional market models, and one of the specific reasons to why I refuse to replace my Stock Android phone from 2017 (a Nokia 8, to be precise) and consider other brands.

Which developer are you talking about?
Yes, India is significantly cheaper and has more of everything, but do remember India is nearly 50 times larger and it's one of the largest and most fertile countries in the world.
Being one of the birthplaces of civilisation definitely helps too.
ZSU-57-2, 25 Mar 2026Kinda sad to see some people happily mocking Apple when it does it's corporate shit, but ... moreThem Apple "fanbois" are just people who choose whatever is the better thing for them and if something better pops up, they'll easily switch to that because they find it better suited to their needs.
And then you have the Android fanbois that really are a "special" breed. They'll tell you how their use case is the only valid use case and everyone else doesn't know how to use their device to its fullest capacity, squeezing every bit of juice and potential out of it. And they'll defend their position no matter what, even when presented with cold hard facts.
As an analogy:
- Apple users are like Mercedes owners. They buy their cars at the dealership based on their needs and then go on about their business. When on the road, they don't care to check what other cars around them do or what specific features they have. To them, things are simple - they have their car and everyone else on the road, regardless of brand/model, is just 'some other car' and presents no interest whatsoever
- Android fanbois on the other hand, will tell you that their Fords and Nissans are the optimal choice for every consumer because they don't cost a lot and they offer "good bang-for-buck" while pretending that all the shoddy qualities of those cars are just minor things you can easily and should definitely ignore as it's not a big deal anyway
It's like someone telling the guy who is living in a castle with butlers and maids, that silly living in such a castle because the heating bills being are high, there is lots of cleaning required, the staff needs salaries, and the castle is too far away from the nearest McDonald's.
Kinda sad to see some people happily mocking Apple when it does it's corporate shit, but when Google does the same they get butthurt over it and defend G at all cost... Reverse Apple fanboys :/
People, remember both Google and Apple are from Big Tech and they contribute one letter each to "GAFAM". Neither is your friend, just like Intel vs. AMD. Corporations are, vell... Corporations.

rip, android.
As a software developer, intervention is unavoidable. Too many victims of malicious intents, no matter how smart they may be, no matter how many times we lectured them, they're still annoyingly dumb. We tried and tried and are tired, and yet still there are people believing everything on the Internet, because to them, it has never been a commodity, but a fascinating technology that changes their lives etc. etc.
I personally have been sideloading as long as I use Android (since 2014) and have never got myself into trouble.
I also sent an email to Keep Android Open in hopes to get my voice heard.
And then Google announced the 24-hour timer, which really is a good start albeit very annoying. What I really wish for is to bypass the lock immediately and permanently, just with ADB.
