EstebanOD, 27 Mar 2026Because they are biased (if not lobbied, not to say corrupted) and simply poorly done. This is... moreDo you know that Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was debut of Samsung's latest high-end ISOCELL sensor, the GN2 back in 2021. Top class at that time. 1/1.12" . But Samsung itself never used it. Samsung has never gone bigger than 1/1.3" even on Ultra & Note.
Quoting Gsmarena Review below:
""" The primary camera marks the debut of Samsung's latest high-end sensor, the GN2. Thanks to this substantial 1/1.12" imager, the Mi 11 Ultra dethrones the Nokia 808 PureView for biggest sensor on a smartphone (finally), though depending on where you stand, that title may still be held by the Panasonic Lumix LC1.
The GN2 has 8160x6120px (or 50MP) and each of them with a size of 1.4µm. """
EstebanOD, 27 Mar 2026Because they are biased (if not lobbied, not to say corrupted) and simply poorly done. This is... moreThe issue with Samsung is choices. They purposefully choose to keep camera hardware outdated & weak. Is it business miserliness? Only Samsung employees know, but squeezing everything from existing recycled components & refusing to move to bigger sensors is typical Samsung. I've seen them do this repeatedly in last 16 years, patently poor Camera hardware vs competitors at same price points, budget - mid - flagship - everything.
Also you may know, the Smartphone team is autonomously separate from the ISOCELL team that designs sensors. Samsung sources its packaged camera from different vendors both internal & external just like AMOLEDs, even though Samsung itself is leader & makes in-house. They diversify & buy from LG & BOE at times, same thing what Apple does. My point is, whatever the ISOCELL team makes, the Smartphone team always picks the weak options despite freedom to choose. Even when they go Sony & other players, they pick poor & weak options. There is & always has been potential, but they are refusing to unleash. Has there been any video scandal in Korea, why they do this? like Chaebols forcing to keep it from getting better? Only they know. But look at Gsmarena Photo reviews of Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Top notch vs Samsung, they are showing similar top rankings on DXOmark, hence I agree with DXOmark.
Same thing with S22-S26, A53-A57, A33-A37, they are weak sensors vs competition.
TruthSerum, 24 Mar 2026DXOmark may not be perfect, but I think their Camera Ranking is roughly agreeable.
I don... moreBecause they are biased (if not lobbied, not to say corrupted) and simply poorly done. This is everything but a proper scientific comparison. I've studied solid-state imaging and photonics, and I can guarantee you DXO is a taint.
Also, Samsung is one of the two biggest phone camera sensor manufacturer in the industry. If they sucked, the next iPhones and many Chinese flagship wouldn't use them...
EstebanOD, 18 Mar 2026If you use DXOMark as an argument, the entire comment can be thrown away and disregarded.DXOmark may not be perfect, but I think their Camera Ranking is roughly agreeable.
I don't know why you hate DXOmark. But I agree with their Rankings based purely on my own years of experience & reviewing Camera photography. Samsung smartphone cameras are worst YET most expensive hardware, no matter, budget to mid to flagship.
Maybe Huawei should go and make another trifold not like their Z folding trifold but like Samsung's. They had the X, Xs and Xs 2 before which was an 'outie' design and then they switched to the more popular 'innie' folding X2 and so on up to the current X7. They can make anything.
Shahryaran, 18 Mar 2026They stop making because it is too expensive to make. And it is too expensive to make because ... moreIt’s funny that Huawei being blocked from getting latest chip but still able to produce as many as they can do and also have a second generation or revision on the first gen version. Strange right? For me I see that Samsung TriFold design is abit confusing for most of the people.

Eh... those comments about Samsung copying Apple... People do realize that half of guts inside iphones is from Samsung. They make more money from Apple than from selling their own devices.
As for Z TriFold they dropped it because they lose money on it due to post-sale services that they provide for TriFold as people trash them constantly, like non stop they mess the screen on them. Samsung realized that replacing them all all the time under guarantee is pain in the butt.

Who would have guessed there aren't many people willing to splash out three grand plus taxes on a phone? Nice to see these trillion dollar corps failing with their greed a lot more regularly lately. Can't wait for the AI bubble to bust.

It was inevitable that Z TriFold was just a niche market, experimental side of Samsung that Samsung themselves haven't touched since 2020 and its limited run was expected.

It's a rare phone and when the seller I bought it from gets one it's sold within hours. However, what he sells the most is iPhones. A used iPhone 17 pro is actually 200 euros more at the same seller, and yet he sells iPhones like hotcakes. I just don't understand people smh.
