just give us an on/off switch for AI and I don't care thanks
AnonD-1229345, 04 Mar 2026There was really no need to bring AI to such phones. Add to it a dedicated AI button! What ... moreafter 2026 whomaybe own nokia brand or original nokia buy back from HMD(mircosoft sold to hmd for $350million) launch android devices and HMD latest feature phone nokia 110 power design similar to nokia N8, so nokia might launch newOS
Anton the. Papi, 04 Mar 2026That's because there weren't smartphones back then! When you reach that age, and we ... moreYep but its been said you cant teach old dog new tricks.
This proves opposite.
Dumb phone is like an old dog and learning smart ways like NFC for paying, whatsapp, facebook, instagram brownsing etc will be like new tricks.
Althought phones in past like Nokia N8 which had its buttons had powers to go to internet its been very difficult for brownsing and scrolling on such phone with such small screen.
I miss real nokia phones. Sold my nokia 6303 classic. Now regret. It was working fine after 8 years of usage. Could be a good mp3 player now. Also games were fun.
There was really no need to bring AI to such phones. Add to it a dedicated AI button!
What HMD should really do is make something like those old S40/S60/Asha phones and stop using this S30+ nonsense on their feature phones. RTOS Touch or whatever it is called, which they use on their new hybrid phone, sucks too. These operating systems are useless in today's time when everybody needs basic features like payments, navigation, a solid browser, a workable camera, some email access and a reliable messaging app.
The new hybrid phone is a gimmick too. The touchscreen is horrible, Express Chat is useless, using 4g and mobile hotspot freezes the UI and the phone restarts. There is a host of issues with that phone and it just lies in my drawer now, except when I use it for listening to music while working out.
Instead of all these gimmicks, HMD should really try to bring back the older Nokia-style phones. Another way of reducing people's dependence on smartphones would be android phones with a smaller display, or touch-and-type ones (Clicks Communicator!) with a small touchscreen and a physical keyboard. Smaller phones would probably help people not get into social media rabbit holes and having android would allow for modern apps. Even if it is not android, a solid OS like the old Nokia phones will be nice.
I'd never had trouble browsing the web on my Nokia X2-01 or Asha 501, for instance, when 2g was the norm! I could not do that on HMD's modern 4g feature phones. The music player on these phones are unintuitive, cameras suck, gallery is unusable, build quality is crap. The focus should be on having a solid OS first and HMD can absolutely do it. I just don't understand why they don't.

Video call and digital wallet is still acceptable. But, AI!? Hell NO ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
Awesome news for HMD. Everyone wants AI integrated into everything and this is a dumb phone company adding AI features! Isn't that the reason you purchase a dumb phone, for AI capability, right?
Maybe they should stop making e-waste first?
They can't make a good smartphone, let alone bring "innovation" into dumbphones.
Good thing is, no one buys devices from the Home of Mediocre Devices. They're basically vapourware.

DarlingYext, 04 Mar 2026The last thing feature phones need is AI, but sure HMD go ahead and dig yourself an even deepe... moreThey are not digging a deeper hole, they are digging their 2nd grave.
The first grave was Nokia.
