My Magic6 Pro received MagicOS 10(A16) in late January already. For Magic7 it started rolling last year in November-December, as far as I know.
Weird, I received Android 16 (MagicOS 10) on my Magic 7 Pro already last November. Look at the Android 16 roadmap of Honor. It states Andeoid 16 will be released in October 2025 for the Magic 7 Pro. This news is old. I dont know why the media reports as if it is released now. Magic 5 Pro is supposed to get it in February 2026.

Anton the. Papi, 14 Feb 2026You know Android is from Google, right? Global versions are slow because these Chinese manufac... more1. Google’s role (Android itself)
Google develops Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and publishes:
New Android versions (Android 14, 15, etc.)
Monthly security patches
Once Google releases these, any manufacturer can access them for free.
2. Why Pixel phones get updates first
Pixel phones are designed and controlled end-to-end by Google:
Hardware
Software
Camera system
Drivers and firmware
Because Google controls everything, they can:
Push updates immediately
Skip coordination with third parties
Guarantee long-term support
So Pixels are fast because Google owns the whole stack.
3. What slows down other brands (Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.)
Other manufacturers must do much more work after Google releases Android:
a) Custom Android skins
Brands add their own software layers:
Samsung → One UI
Xiaomi → HyperOS
Oppo → ColorOS
Each update must be:
Integrated
Re-tested
Optimized
This alone can take months.
b) Chipmaker dependency (very important)
Most phones use chips from companies like Qualcomm or MediaTek.
Before a phone brand can update Android, the chipmaker must:
Update low-level drivers
Approve compatibility
If the chipmaker stops support → no major Android updates, even if the phone still works.
c) Carrier approval (in some countries)
In regions like the US:
Carriers test and approve updates
This can delay rollout by weeks
Why some brands are faster than others
Update speed depends on:
How clean their software is
How long the chip is supported
How much engineering effort they invest
For example:
Samsung is fast now because it massively invested in update infrastructure
Smaller brands with fewer engineers are slower 🤷

😅😅😅
you do realize that my reply was refering to AOSP project
and google are the one who is developing it with their partners from.all companys including honor, samsung and the others
.......................
my whole previous reply was about how fast chinese manufactorers in china to update/upgrade their software compared to their global version and what is the benefit you will get from that
......
i dont care about who/how fast to upgrade the system?
this is my point here

Global versions are slow because these Chinese manufacturers only want to sell and not provide support! Is Samsung Chinese? Is Samsung American? Haha, and it's the KOREAN manufacturer... that has the fastest updates after the Pixel. It's a shame that Honor is talking about bringing Android 16 when the Android 17 beta came out yesterday. Hahaha
Pierre sur internet, 14 Feb 2026Honor is bad for updates ...why they are late in global version
its obvious.....
honor like a cook who wants to bake something good for you
so im china the equation is very simple
honor + android = fast upgrading
but globally the equation is different
honor like a cook and google like gorden ramsy ((everytime complaining 🤣)) and you as the customer
so the equation will be
honor + android + google bloatware implmenting = very slow upgrading
-------------------
thats why global version so slow to be upgraded

I wouldn't hold onto an Android 10 device as a primary device with sensitive data, but maybe as an emergency backup if trading in gets you almost nothing.
for a high end phone 8 months after initial release of android 16 is too much..and its C636 asian region. Supposedly asian models get it faster than rest
paco, 14 Feb 2026It almost overlaps with the launch of Android 17.I'd take security updates that are not locked behind silly Android OS upgrades. My phone lost 200k+ points going from Android 14 to Android 15.
And I've lost a lot of freedom going from Android 10 to Android 11 and newer version. smh.
I have global version of Magic7 Pro and git this update on december and one more update on january.
Wonderfull new gsmarena, you are uptodate!
