A phone focused on emulation and they chose Dimensity LMAO
Snapdragon is goated mostly for their driver and open system most emulators dont work on mediateck or exynos honestly this is dead on arival i would of bought one even if it had a 7 series snapdragon
Even we, non-techies, know that MediaTek's SoCs are not suitable for emulation, so it seems odd that Ayaneo, which has only used Snapdragon until now, would suddenly switch to a new processor. (They also used Helio G99, but only in compromised models.)
Could an OEM manufacturer have surplus D9300 chips and are offering flagship motherboards at a low price?
DM9300 is still good but they could've used SD8Gen2 as it has the best Turnip drivers especially for emulation. Just an opinion
It's more than enough power to emulate any console but an odd choice to go for a older processor as it limits ability to play more modern android games at highest settings. I guess target audience is gonna be purely emulation fans. Will need to justify the chipset choice with a low price.
rizki1, 6 hours agoold SoC and the price should be under $400.And the fact that this makes BBK's older flagships look way better in value.
CamoGeko-XDA, 7 hours agoWhy won't they just use an older snapdragon?? Even buying an older Pocophone F4 would be ... moreNo
Compatibility , 10 hours agoThat's not good even something like 865 would be way better for gaming especially for emu... moreNo it wouldnt be way better for gaming. 865 is so much worse for native gaming. Its not like mtk is unable to emulate any switch or pc games either. Probably does it better than 865 for many titles.
Lol. You guys know people wont even click the article if its revealed in the news title itself.
Hmmm... I don't mind about having a two-year-old flagship SoC as it's still crazy powerful, but MediaTek SoC hasn't been well known for mobile gaming. On that front, Qualcomm's Adreno GPU has always been the more superior choice.
Arm SoC is cheaper than X86 was a lie. The reason it's cheaper is because they Lock everything of hardware drivers like GPU or even ISP.
Just another solution seeking for a problem πππ
Emulator lovers will only be screwed with Vita and Switch emulation. The rest work fine on mediatek devices. Mediatek is also in talks with Gamehub devs for compatibility related issues.
making a gaming phone, and using old dimensity 9300 ... HAHAHA
Compatibility , 10 hours agoThat's not good even something like 865 would be way better for gaming especially for emu... moreTrue. A bit unexpected. I was hoping for AMD Sound Wave Arm SOC. Either way. MTK is bad for emulation. This is coming from someone who used K70 Ultra with D9300+. I was trying to get Gamehub playing Dave the diver and it crash every few minutes. Not sure about RM11 Pro with SD8 Gen5, still havenβt got time to test it yet. Unless Ayaneo got some sort of their own version for emulation, this one wont be good.
Why won't they just use an older snapdragon?? Even buying an older Pocophone F4 would be a better decision.
You are targeting emulator users, but MTK's driver support is much worse than Qualcomm's.
This seems pretty meh to me on paper at a glance. Maybe on hand its amazing but I dont see myself using this over a high power tablet or a phone with a gamepad or the steam deck tbh. It will probably be more expensive than it needs to be for the gimmick. If it was a dual screen plus the frame physical buttons I could see it getting more mileage, with a proper chipset of course.
Does using this processor mean the phone will be cheaper?
