sadly there are great interfaces and apps that only format correctly on android 11 and earlier in my experience. the android 12-15 experience for me was full of problems and slow-downs loading, updating bugs, unexplained loss of features and unexplained settings changes. I'd say the old android is sleeker!

And older androids can still be recycled as entertainment devices unlike old IOS devices that cannot be jailbroken.
Users should be given a choice to pick security updates only as OS updates slow the phones down. Not to mention android is already fully featured like how we can freely move our stuff or interconnect with different brands without Apple restricting us.

“Although the update was made now, the data is from December 1, 2025. So keep in mind that the percentage of devices running Android 16 today is definitely at least somewhat higher.” Doubt it.

It would be wrong to say Apples model is better, its simply has a different objective. Android’s model, where devices are made compatible with only the current and next, say 3 releases allows (a) devices can be made at a quarter of the cost, (b) supports a much wider range of hardwares and (c) gives a faster development cycle than Apple. For most, (perhaps 75%?) these benefits are more attractive than Apples’ one size fits (nearly) all.
Superpower2030, 22 hours agoWhy even bother with such polls, nothings changed since android 5.It's funny how many numbers we've come so far, yet Android 5 still doesn't get old. I remember back when I thought it was the cleanest looking UI ever.
Just give me today's speed and stock Android 5-7 and I'll be happy.

This Android device can dual-boot to full Windows 11 for ARM. At the end of the day, an smartphone is the same as an ARM laptop but more compact. Now if you have all the basic smartphone functionality on Linux or Windows, in theory they could ditch Android altogether. In fact they added a custom UI similar to Windows Phone on Windows 11
An iPhone/iPad could easily run MacOS, if they wanted to

I think its also because big brands such as Transsion holding's even best and newest devices still don't have Android 16 available. They control a very large chunk of African market, and a fairly big chunk of East Asian market...
It's a failure in the long run. This creates inconsistency, and with each Android update some of my apps stop working, it's beyond annoying and frustrating experience.

“As usual, this is pitiful compared to Apple's adoption rates for new iOS versions, but context is important - Android is a much more open ecosystem, with dozens of companies producing hundreds, if not thousands of devices.”
Whoever wrote this only showed how miserable and hostile they are to small and little business based on Android Open Source Code, by using such hostile language to describe open nature of Android they showed undeniable links to Apple’s NDA hypocrisy which I believe GSMARENA signed.

Also, Xiaomi is easily debloated with Canta or ADB even without bootloader unlocking.
