There was NEVER EVER GOING TO BE an Open 2!!

Why??
Because the executive staff at OnePlus couldn't follow nor practice a slideshow!!

Go ans watch the Oppo launch of thr Find N5 then the OnePlus Open launch which literary was 1 hour after the former and you'll notice the unprofessionalism of the latter staff!!

It truly was pathetic! No wonder the news less than 3hrs later was for firing several OnePlus staff!!!

Dometalican, 13 Jan 2026Which is silly considering Oppo doesn't sell any phones in North America but OnePlus does... moreThey've got the channels are already built with OnePlus in North America.
Same reason why Honor didn't get banned after Huawei or Xiaomi selling certain rebranded Redmi phones through Poco in certain markets.

The One Plus "broken" turned out to be a disaster for Oppo. I recall holding one in NYC at their pop up tent when it came out. I loved the in-hand feel and smooth OS.

Unfortunately, the durability was terrible through the 1st few months and some people were waiting months to get their phone back. That's why Oppo put the Find N and OPO2 on hold. The result of that delay? The Find N5 was irrelevant on release and sales tanked. Samsung may have sold more foldables in China than Oppo despite the W Series being the 1st or 2nd most expensive fold in that market.

In 2023, Oppo had the 3rd highest foldable market share in China. Now they barely get noticed outside of tech influencers looking for views and this debacle traces back to the ineptness of One Plus and the Open. So, I'm not surprised.

Is OnePlus still scared to fight against Samsung and Google in the USA? They have no idea how many former Samsung and Google owners over there who currently daily drives a OnePlus phone.

Lord Bennington, 13 Jan 2026It's clear now... Oppo is trying to kill OnePlus into irrelevancy. Which is silly considering Oppo doesn't sell any phones in North America but OnePlus does.

Unless something is about to change...
