Rumored Nvidia+Mediatek soc for gaming laptops and handhelds in 2026(?) could be huge because those could have better battery life, around equal performance and cheaper price than devices with Intel and Amd.
Of course with soc there will be no upgradable ram and older games and programs without native Arm support will have issues(at least lower fps).
Personally i still play older games in addition to newer games so unless there will be something big that could be done for Arm emulation or conversion at least my desktop pc will be Amd or Intel based, but for gaming handheld and (gaming) laptop i could in the future buy Arm based device and be happy with it.
Idea of having bluetooth gaming controller connected to my phone in which i play pc games streamed wirelessly to smart/AR glasses with huge virtual screen on the go could be epic.

Reread and understand the article carefully. It's about GameSir and Mediatek's Dimensity chip. No need to be that hard and bring up names like Samsung, Microsoft etc.. Don't make things complicate, dude.
This is the first sentence in last paragraph of the article;
"The team at GameHub has reached out to MediaTek to create Mali-specific drivers for PC game emulation."
Nice move by both people at gamesir and mediatek. But let's see if this even gives us playable 50 fps at 720P

What about Arm ?
All those won't give you anything and don't have to as DirectX is property of Microsoft !
And you know what ? Qualcomm won't too ! (Even if with the partnership about Windows on Arm, there's an official support of DirectX for Snap X Elite).
On the otherside, sources for Vulkan on Mali is something you can find easily.
All emulation is based on reverse engineering...

Why d... moreAs we know, business companies have different goals and focuses. It might not be a top priority for MTK to improve the Mali-gpu support for PC-game emulation. Aside from the fact that only a minority uses emulation compared to the significant portion of Android gamers/users where MTK is trying to improve its chip.
As for GameSir, it's clearly for their market expansion.

Vulkan sources for Mali are nearly complete...available on Arm website.
Chip-level for DirectX support ? Are you serious ? DirectX is proprietary...
You critisize when some others succeed...proof what you said is not fully true.
Was the same with nearly all emulators, it only take time because when 50 devs work on Adreno, 2 work on Mali.
(And about Windows, because Microsoft did the job for X Elite...)
The real thing is most emulator devs work on Adreno since more than a décade...and don't want to change their mind...
Speak with one a couple or years ago...tell me he hasn't the sources, I give him the link...his answer was so fast than he obviously didn't even click on the it.
Plus they spend their time spitting on Mediatek and never ever critisize Google when both use Mali.
Same for custom Rom on Xiaomi.eu...when we give them everything to do the job, they finish to say the truth : they simply don't want to...(The time Redmi Note 8 Pro was released)
Moderator even insults us and order us to stop buying devices with Mediatek.
Obviously there's a kind of sectarism with some devs.
That's an other proof emulation is possible on Mali when devs want too...need more to try and less to troll ! That's it
Looking good for DM users, even as a snapdragon user and RM user, I sometimes wish DM8000 and 9000 series are as optimized as the snapdragons as they're really cost efficient chips compared the SD8 series ones.
Imagine a Redmagic 10D Air series with DM8400 and for just $399-$400+ lol.
Clocking, 29 Jul 2025Announcements like this tend to arouse more questions than excitement about Mediatek. Why d... moreBcuz ARM. iirc most of Cortex and Mali's driver and documentation is closed-source, so that's mean MediaTek (and other chip company that uses Cortex and Mali such as Unisoc, Exynos, and Tensor) couldn't really share the source code of their CPU and GPU.
TechFa, 29 Jul 2025So what would the Snapdragon gangs bragging about Snap being better in emulation, do now? 🤔 "At least our phone is better at custom ROM!1!1!1!1!1" if only Custom ROM still matter in big 25 lmao.

Ideally, everything will work perfectly from the start. That's a fantasy. Developers don't sit tight and wait for things to improve. They do everything they can. If they encounter problems they can't figure out on their own, they can consult the platform providers. And platforms providers can improve their platforms by working with third-party developers. For example, some features of Firefox don't exist from the beginning. Users had to use add-ons. When Mozilla recognized that some features were essential, it decided to integrate those features into Firefox. Android doesn't have desktop mode from the beginning. Samsung developed it, and eventually Google adopted it. This is how a platform improves and evolves in real life.

Why didn't Mediatek have a proper vulkan implementation in the first place. Why have they not released workarounds for chip-level problems in their mali GPUs? Why are their shader compilers so unstable. These are all problems that should've been solved on day one. Instead Mediatek is shipping its chips out to customers with beta or even alpha drivers with barely any after service.
There's a reason why emulator developers prefer, for example Snapdragon over Dimensity. It's because Qualcomm drivers have a functioning vulkan implementation. It's because they encounter more problems with Mediatek drivers. It's because even if they wanted thse problems resolved, Mediatek's developer 'support' has been almost non-existent.
It's the same for gamers, they encounter less problems with chips from other SoC manufacturers.
You should take a step back and think about why you're so adament in defending Mediatek. A multi-billionaire dollar company that can't even be bothered to allocate a measly amount of resources to resolve the shortcomings in their core products, causing problems for thousands of users.
