Minu, 27 May 2025Apparently, they added a set of low-end cameras. That itself is the biggest drawback. Well these types of phones mostly pour their money into hardware performance, hence the recent chips and big, advanced screens. They usually go for the default build quality and material. The cameras are the least of their worries. You can't have everything for less than 500 USD. Something is gonna have to be compromised.

Minu, 27 May 2025Apparently, they added a set of low-end cameras. That itself is the biggest drawback. The main camera is fine. Imx906. Same as the just launched Realme gt7 and same level as the upcoming Redmi k80 ultra. Also they said they are giving the same algorithm as OPPO's flagships (x series). If they do give the same algorithm it would be pretty good as the OPPO find x8 with basically the same main camera is excellent. Downside is basically it's just a one camera phone but all the competitors in a similar price category are the same (actually this is the cheapest phone too with a current flagship chip set at launch. Even Redmi will probably be more expensive when they launch their competitor next month.)

I wonder which version will become the Nord 5. Disappointing that not enough manufacturers are focusing on the camera units of mid range phones. I would have thought that the industry would have moved away from the usual good main sensor with terrible ultrawide and no telephoto nonsense by now. I'd trade a flagship chipset for an upper midrange chipset if it meant a proper triple camera setup was installed.

Ace 5 Ultra/Supreme has a pretty good PtP ratio (price to performance). For less than 600 USD, this is a pretty capable phone with a decent OS afaik.
Ace 5 Racing is even better. 9400e is still capable of a lot of tasks and even has the same trim as Ultra/Supreme. OnePlus better not fumble this with some massive drawback.

the price is absurd for all these configurations
347 dollars and even less and with the discounts from the Chinese government subsidies the price drops to 295 dollars
that is indeed a killer price
