I recently ordered the CMF Buds 2 Plus, and after just 10 minutes of use, I knew I had to write this.
For context, I’m coming from a background of highly hyped budget gear, and honestly, my experience has been completely different from what the mainstream reviews claim. Here is my honest breakdown.
The Skullcandy Disappointment: Hype vs. Reality
Everyone proclaims Skullcandy as the "king of gym headphones" and the ultimate bass monsters. My
experience? They are garbage.
• Skullcandy Crusher Evo:
The bass on these is purely haptic and fake. If you turn off the haptic motor, the headphones do absolutely nothing. The highs are incredibly muddy, and the volume scaling is terrible—I can never find a sweet spot; it's either too quiet or deafeningly loud. On top of that, they are heavy, extremely uncomfortable, and make your ears sweat even in the dead of winter. Even fully extended, they clamp my head like a vise. I ended up ditching them and going back to my SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1, which still absolutely crush it in terms of comfy music listening for their price.
• Skullcandy Dime 3 (I tried Smoking Buds too and they are worse):
The Dime 3 didn't even last me a week. They literally blew out while I was listening to music. Even before that, the bass wasn’t deep or punchy; it was just a muddy mess. The plastic feels incredibly cheap, and they kept falling out of my ears.
After those disasters, I daily-driven a pair of second-hand, base-model AirPods 2 for about 2–3 years. They did the job, but yesterday, my CMF Buds 2 Pro arrived.
Enter the CMF Buds 2 Plus: A Total Game Changer
First impressions within the first 10 minutes were enough to blow me away.
• The Sound & Bass: Everything is incredibly clean. The bass is so deep and powerful that setting the slider past 3/5 in the app is almost too intense—it’s pure madness. The sound stage is clear enough that I’m discovering layers and parts of songs I had never heard before.
• Comfort & Fit: With the Dime 3, finding the right ear tips was a nightmare—they were either too big or constantly falling out. With the CMF Buds, the stock tips fit perfectly right out of the box. They are extremely comfortable for long listening sessions and don't budge at all.
• Build Quality: To be fair, the plastic texture isn't premium, but for this price point, you really can’t ask for more.
• ANC (Active Noise Cancellation): It hasn't completely blown me away yet, but to be fair, I’ve only used them for a couple of hours and haven't fully tested it. Honestly, though? I don't really care about ANC, even if this is my first pair featuring it.
Conclusion
Skullcandy is absolutely not what the internet promotes it to be. They have no concept of sound harmony; all they know how to do is make a cheap "boom boom" shaking sound, and that's it.
If you want actual clarity, insane (but controlled) bass, and comfort without breaking the bank, the CMF Buds 2 Plus are lightyears ahead. Highly recommended!
It is absolutely impossible to get a good feel for audio quality in these reviews because you guys absolutely abhor bass. It's not just a problem with muddy sound, it's a problem with a heavy bass presence. Fact is, the average consumer would prefer even a muddy V over an absence of bass presence in their favorite genres.

What are the numbers for the regular latency and low latency mode? Does the latency changes when used with Nothing phone or other android phones and iPhones?
Still nobody compares them to Pro version. Sound like "very asked point fro Nth". Dont understand. Why. I dont really see any review with direct comparison of plus and pro. Why should I personally buy Plus for the same price?
>The CMF Buds 2 Plus also don't get any points for having LDAC as you don't hear the added resolution in the sound.
My thoughts in the first minute of listening to Buds 2 Plus, comparing them with the 2-year lower-end earbuds: "why do they sound so bad?" The stereo effect and bass is muffled, the hi-hats have pre-echo and you can't hear when its being hit, it's just "sss" without "tsss".
BEWARE! AAC bitrate is capped to 128 kbit/s, SBC to 250 kbit/s (39 bitpool). Sound on regular codecs is made artificially bad. This is showstopper for Buds 2 (which it without LDAC support), and could only be fixed by enabling LDAC on Buds 2 Plus (claim to take battery life from ~13 hours down to 8, but mine play 10+ hours on LDAC).

I like that GSMArena does these types of reviews for TWS and over ears but can we maybe get a graph for tuning or even a video/audio demonstrating the mic/ANC performance?
Words are taken differently depending on your audience and a graph/audio is the only objective way to inform people
Well this is a real shame. Fortunately the Buds Pro 2 are still out there. Also has the smart dial which is useful
At this price point, ANC is never good. I'd skip it and go for the Sony C-510 instead. Better sound quality, more compact, and multipoint bluetooth.
Removing that cool circle logos from earbuds makes them very generic and bland. Just bought cmd buds pro 2. Looks great on orange color.
