Fall TV is here, bringing a ton of new shows and movies to watch in September 2026 on Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV and other major streaming services, as well as broadcast and cable TV.

As a streaming editor, I’m keeping an eye on the month’s biggest, buzziest new shows and movies, from the return of Gary Oldman’s gloriously cranky spy Jackson Lamb in “Slow Horses” season 6 to the new comedy “Brothers,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Peacock has another reality-TV obsession waiting with “The Traitors: New Blood,” while “The Paper” returns for a second season of newsroom hijinks.

There’s plenty of darker fare in the mix, too, including Netflix’s killer thrillers “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story” and “Unabomber.” For something considerably more romantic, “The Love Hypothesis” brings a beloved book to the screen. Whether you’re looking for prestige drama, true crime, reality scheming or a swoony rom-com, here's what to watch in September 2026, sorted by premiere date.

‘The Gentlemen’ season 2 (Sept. 3, Netflix)

A year after joining forces to expand Bobby’s criminal empire overseas, Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) find that business is booming, if increasingly dangerous. When Bobby (Ray Winstone) starts making some very questionable decisions, the pair face a choice: Take matters into their own hands or risk watching their empire crumble. Guy Ritchie is expanding the action from the English countryside to the Italian lakes.

Premieres Sept. 3 on Netflix

‘Mayday’ (Sept. 4, Apple TV)

In 1987, hotshot Navy pilot Troy “Assassin” Kelly (Ryan Reynolds) is sent on a top-secret mission into Soviet territory, only for the whole thing to go spectacularly sideways. Stranded behind enemy lines, he’s rescued by a gruff ex-KGB agent (Kenneth Branagh) with an unexpected fondness for American culture. Troy’s Cold War mission turns into an unlikely buddy comedy; it’s espionage with banter.

Premieres Sept. 4 on Apple TV

‘The Paper’ season 2 (Sept. 9, Peacock)

Hot off the presses: Winning journalism awards only makes Toledo Truth Teller editor-in-chief Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) more ambitious. Season 2 finds Ned hunting for his next big story while secretly romancing reporter Mare Pritti (Chelsea Frei), because neither wants to deal with workplace HR. Expect storm chasing, questionable field assignments and even more newsroom dysfunction as the gang keeps the paper going.

Premieres Sept. 9 on Peacock

‘Slow Horses’ season 6 (Sept. 16, Apple TV)

The Slow Horses are back — and they’re turning up dead. That sends Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) and his deeply dysfunctional crew underground, with Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) at the center of the bloodbath. The sixth season adapts two Mick Herron novels, “Joe Country” and “Slough House,” and brings back Rosalind Eleazar, Hugo Weaving and, most intriguingly, “House of the Dragon” star Olivia Cooke as Sid, presumed dead since season 1.

Premieres Sept. 16 on Apple TV

‘Neagley’ (Sept. 16, Prime Video)

One of “Reacher’s” most compelling side character finally gets the spotlight. Maria Sten returns as Frances Neagley, the former 110th Special Investigations Unit member turned Chicago private investigator who goes hunting for answers after a friend dies in a suspicious accident. Unlike the OG series,, this spinoff isn’t adapting a Lee Child novel, so Neagley gets to carve out her own story — though Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher will pop in for a guest appearance.

Premieres Sept. 16 on Prime Video

‘Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story’ (Sept. 17, Netflix)

Ryan Murphy’s “Monster” anthology finally gets its first female subject and is going straight for the axe. Ella Beatty stars as Lizzie Borden, the Massachusetts woman acquitted of murdering her father (Charlie Hunnam) and stepmother (Rebecca Hall) in 1892, with Vicky Krieps as her maid and Billie Lourd as her sister. Sarah Paulson also appears as Aileen Wuornos, because apparently one infamous female killer isn’t enough.

Premieres Sept. 17 on Netflix

‘The Traitors: New Blood’ (Sept. 17, NBC)

“The Traitors” is taking the murder-mystery reality game back to basics: 22 civilians, one Scottish castle, and absolutely no one with a preexisting reality-TV alliance. Alan Cumming once again presides over the carnage as the contestants — from a nurse and astrophysicist to a funeral director and MLB analyst — try to sniff out the Traitors before they’re banished, murdered or otherwise psychologically wrecked. With $250,000 up for grabs, trusting the wrong person can be costly.

Premieres Sept. 17 on NBC and next day on Peacock

‘Youth’ (Sept. 20, HBO)

“Bad Sisters” and “Catastrophe” creator Sharon Horgan is back with a new comedy, starring in a role she was seemingly born to play: a woman whose life is held together by sheer spite, and the hope of getting laid. Alex is a 50-year-old divorced literary agent juggling an unraveling teenage son, aging parents and a fling with Patrick (Rupert Friend), a commitment-averse Scot. Growing older gracefully? Ha!

Premieres Sept. 20 on HBO and HBO Max

‘Brothers’ (Sept. 23, Apple TV)

“True Detective” season 5?! Nah. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson aren’t reuniting to reprise their roles from the acclaimed drama. Instead, they’re playing fictionalized versions of themselves in a comedy where they discover they might actually be related. When Woody’s daughter’s wedding implodes, he retreats with his family to Matthew’s Texas ranch, where Ma Mac (Holland Taylor) accidentally detonates the bombshell.

Premieres Sept. 23 on Apple TV

‘The Love Hypothesis’ (Sept. 23, Prime Video)

The fake dating trope is a longtime rom-com staple, but now it gets a scientific spin in an adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel. Lili Reinhart stars as Olive, a Stanford Ph.D candidate who impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen (Tom Bateman) to convince her best friend she’s moved on from her crush. Their staged relationship comes with rules, academic ulterior motives and plenty of sunscreen — until the experiment gets a little too real.

Premieres Sept. 23 on Prime Video

‘A Different World’ (Sept. 24, Netflix)

Back-to-school season gets a serious nostalgia boost with this revival of the beloved ’90s sitcom. Maleah Joi Moon stars as Deborah Wayne, the freshman daughter of OG characters Whitley (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne (Kadeem Hardison), who’s determined to make her own mark at Hillman College — preferably without her parents hovering. Plenty of other original stars return, including Debbie Allen, Jenifer Lewis and Jada Pinkett Smith, for a new generation’s turn at campus life.

Premieres Sept. 24 on Netflix

‘American Horror Story: 13’ season 13 (Sept. 24, FX and Hulu)

“American Horror Story” is turning 13, so naturally, Ryan Murphy is throwing a reunion in style. The season brings back a frankly ridiculous number of franchise veterans, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Emma Roberts. Murphy calls it a “thank you to the fans,” with old costumes and Easter eggs scattered throughout. Light the candles and summon the Supreme!

Premieres Sept. 24 on FX and Hulu

‘Unabomber’ (Sept. 25, Netflix)

The Unabomber has been a true-crime fixation for decades; now, Netflix wants in on the action. The film follows Ted Kaczynski (“Room’s” Jacob Tremblay) from teenage math prodigy at Harvard to domestic terrorist, with Russell Crowe as the controversial professor whose psychological experiments become part of his story. Shailene Woodley co-stars as the FBI agent leading the hunt. The dual-timeline drama promises a darker look at the making — and eventual capture — of one of America’s most infamous criminals.

Premieres Sept. 25 on Netflix

The next Xbox system might not be a single console but a family of devices. That’s not wild speculation, as Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has now hinted at this possibility.

In an interview with BBC News during Gamescom 2026 (via Digital Trends), Asha Sharma said that Project Helix, which is the codename for the next Xbox console, is a “great family of devices.” Now, you can’t have a family of one, so Sharma’s statement heavily suggests that we could see more than one Helix device.

We’ve previously reported that Project Helix could be more akin to a gaming PC than a console, and that Xbox is also reportedly manufacturing its own in-house handheld system. Combine those reports with Sharma’s statement about a family of devices, and we start getting a clearer picture of Microsoft’s potential next-gen plans.

Play anywhere: The next generation

Xbox’s “Play Anywhere” initiative currently lets you buy a digital game once and play it on your Xbox console, Windows PC, and supported handhelds like the Asus ROG Xbox Ally. If there is a family of Helix devices, then it seems Xbox will bring the existing Play Anywhere initiative to the next generation.

So what could this “family” of systems consist of? The Project Helix console could provide the traditional living room experience, while an Xbox-developed handheld could let you take your games on the go. That’s something that currently exists if you own an Xbox Series X and Asus’ Xbox-centric handheld, but what if Xbox goes beyond even this?

Reports suggest the Helix will be more like a PC, but what if that system is a higher-end model for hardcore players with money to spare? That’s speculation on my part, but if we’re talking about a family of devices, I have to imagine there could be more than just two systems. Given how Xbox already caters to console, handheld, and PC gamers, it’s not outlandish to wonder whether the Helix will exist for all of those customers.

All-digital future?

Ever since Sony announced it would stop manufacturing physical discs starting in 2028, many have wondered whether Xbox would follow suit with an all-digital initiative. Asha Sharma hasn't directly answered this question, but if Xbox really wanted to stick it to Sony and potentially win over some of Sony’s disgruntled customers who want physical media, adding a disc drive to the Helix would be a savvy move.

Xbox recently launched its disc-to-digital program, which lets you convert eligible physical game discs into permanent digital licenses linked to your Microsoft account. If the company wants to continue this beyond Xbox Series X systems, it would make sense for Helix to either include a disc drive or for Xbox to release a detachable disc drive similar to the one for PS5 Pro.

It’s still anyone’s guess whether Project Helix will be an all-digital system. Microsoft is still largely a software company, so going all-digital seems logical. That said, if it plans to keep releasing gaming hardware, it would be smart for Helix to support discs in some fashion.

Outlook

Naturally, we don’t have firm details about what Project Helix will be, so we’ll have to hold tight until Sharma or anyone else from the Xbox camp decides to share more. Regardless, it seems Xbox could be trying something relatively unusual and potentially game-changing for its next major console launch.

Apple has officially confirmed that its annual iPhone event will kick off on September 9 under the tagline "Surprise and Sunshine."

The much-rumored iPhone Ultra will steal all the headlines, but we're also expecting to see the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models as well — the base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Plus are reportedly making their debut in spring of 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e.

The iPhone 18 series may be a small upgrade over the iPhone 17 lineup, but we are expecting some updates, including to the cameras. Here's what we expect to see:

iPhone 18 Pro cameras

From every report we've read so far, the iPhone 18 Pro should feature the same triple 48MP camera setup as the current Pro models. Those three cameras will cover the main, ultrawide, and 4x telephoto lenses.

Plus, there should be an 18MP Center Stage front camera, the same as the iPhone 17 Pro.

One big change is a Camera Control adjustment. Since being introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro, the Camera Control button has proven controversial. There is no shortage of Reddit threads filled with both praise and criticism of the new button.

However, rumors suggest that Apple is refining it for the 18 Pro by removing its capacitive capabilities but retaining its ability to change settings.

But there is one feature the iPhone 18 Pro might not get.

Only for the iPhone 18 Pro Max

The cameras on the Pro Max version of the iPhone 18 could enjoy at least two advantages over the standard Pro models: a longer zoom and a variable-aperture camera.

Rumors hint at a 6x optical zoom for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the Pro model would only feature a 5x zoom.

The bigger change is the rumor that Apple is going to add a variable aperture camera to at least one model this year. This would give you more manual control over the size of the aperture. What that means in practice is that you get better control over the depth of field in your shots, so you should get sharper close-ups and better performance in low-light situations.

However, it's not clear if this will come to both Pro models or just the Max. Some rumor mongers have posited that it will be locked to the Pro Max. The speculation is that the thinner iPhone 18 Pro won't be able to fit the mechanics required for a variable lens.

This week’s slate of new movies across the best streaming services offers a strong mixture, with fresh arrivals on the most popular platforms including Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV and Paramount+. Whatever your tastes, there’s (almost certainly) a movie for you.

Arguably the biggest new movie is the Disney+ debut of the latest “Star Wars” adventure, “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” but I encourage you not to skip the “smaller” stuff like “Fuze,” an overlooked action-thriller with a neat twist heading over to HBO Max. Other top picks include an acclaimed drama on Netflix, an action-thriller on Prime Video and a buddy-cop adventure flick on Apple TV starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh.

There are plenty of options this week, so to save you from spending your time scrolling through streaming service libraries, I’ve collected this week’s most noteworthy new movies below. Plus, we also have a guide to the top new TV shows this week.

‘I Want Your Sex’ (PVOD)

As the name implies, “I Want Your Sex” isn’t shy about its provocative intentions. Described as an “erotic comedy-thriller,” this movie explores BDSM practices, alongside dipping into an exploration of power dynamics and eventually murder. Director Gregg Araki is not above going for shock value. However, the filmmaker's first new feature in 12 years has the substance to back up its provocativeness, with critics rating it 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

When Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) lands a coveted job as the assistant for a renowned artist, Erika Tracy (Olivia Wilde), his fantasies come true when she also takes him on as a sexual partner. But the fresh-faced Elliot finds himself out of his depth when Erika brings him into an unfamiliar world of experimental bedroom activities, which eventually leads to obsession, betrayal and even murder. Let’s just say this movie isn’t one for the family!

‘The Runner’ (Prime Video)

Prime Video is closing out its summer original slate with “The Runner,” a new British action-thriller that stars Gal Gadot. Based on the trailer, it doesn’t appear to be trying anything especially new in the genre, but it should be good for 85 minutes of adrenaline-spiking action, and it’s always great to get more female-fronted thrillers. I’m not convinced of its quality (yet), but I’m pretty confident it’ll run straight into the Prime Video top 10.

Maia Marten (Gadot) is a successful attorney living in London. What should have been an ordinary day becomes a frantic race against the clock when her son is abducted. A mysterious caller (Damian Lewis) gives her a series of cryptic commands, and Maia has to race across the city in a desperate bid to save her son. It all sounds as generic as its name, but perhaps “The Runner” will be a pleasant streaming surprise to kick off September.

‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ (Disney+)

The first big-screen “Star Wars” movie in seven years arrives on Disney+ this week, and there’s a certain irony, because I’d argue “this is the way” the Mandalorian movie should be experienced. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” never felt quite at home in theaters, playing out like a condensed fourth season of “The Mandalorian” show. So, if you skipped it in cinemas, you didn’t really miss out; this movie feels made for watching on streaming.

Set between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens,” the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and his adorable ward, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), take on a mission for the New Republic to rescue Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White), son of the infamous crime lord Jabba. Naturally, what was supposed to be a simple rescue job becomes a sprawling adventure in this feature-length continuation of the popular Disney+ original show.

‘The President’s Cake’ (Netflix)

If review sites like Rotten Tomatoes determine your watchlist, and you want to know which new streaming arrival this week has the highest score, I’ll cut to the chase: it’s “The President’s Cake.” This Arabic-language drama scores a near-perfect 99% rating with RT’s Critics Consensus labeling it “a tenderly crafted, often devastating portrait of childhood in rural Iraq.” It’s been praised for its complex themes and rich characters.

Set during the Gulf War, where aerial bombardments are a daily occurrence for the Iraqi people, 9-year-old Lamia (Baneen Ahmad Nayyef) and her class are selected to prepare a cake for the upcoming birthday of the country’s leader, Saddam Hussein. In a country gripped by fear and with resources scarce, Lamia sets out to a nearby city to find ingredients.

‘Scary Movie’ (Paramount+)

“Scary Movie” returned this year, and the horror-spoof series hasn’t matured with age. It remains as lowbrow as ever. Its sights are set on lampooning modern horror trends, such as legacy sequels that drop the number in their titles (hence why this isn’t called “Scary Movie 6). Targets this time include recent genre hits like “Weapons,” “Sinners,” “Get Out” and “The Substance,” alongside poking fun at the series favorite target, “Scream.”

2026’s “Scary Movie” also marks the return of the Wayans, who originally left the franchise after 2002’s “Scary Movie 2.” Also back are stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall. The plot is simple, as you would expect from the franchise, and is merely a vehicle to cram in as many parodies and references as possible. In 2026, “Scary Movie” feels a little outdated, but those who long for the days when parody movies were released regularly might see this as a fun throwback.

‘Fuze’ (HBO Max)

Director David Mackenzie, the filmmaker behind last year’s excellent thriller “Relay,” is back in the genre already with “Fuze.” This crime-thriller doesn’t reach the same heights, but with an audacious heist at its core, it’s a movie that will keep you hooked. Plus, if you’re the type of person who demands shocking twists, I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I can confirm there’s a big reveal in “Fuze” that totally flips the script.

Set in present-day London, a portion of the city is forced to evacuate when an unexploded World War II bomb is discovered on a construction site. Among the military squad called in to defuse the bomb is Major Will Tranter (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). However, in the chaos, a group of criminals led by Giorgos "George" Karalis (Theo James) uses the evacuation as a distraction to pull off a bank heist. But as the authorities circle, alliances are questioned and morals tested.

‘Mayday’ (Apple TV)

Apple TV has earned a reputation for quality original series in recent years, but it’s yet to find the same success with its direct-to-streaming movies. Perhaps “Mayday” could be the start of a hot streak in this area, as this Apple original movie features a solid pairing of Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. At the very least, it can’t be as bad as “Ghosted,” right?

Apple is labeling “Mayday” a “genre-bending, action-packed buddy comedy that flips the spy thriller on its head,” which reads like marketing buzzword bingo. In this Apple original, Reynolds plays a hotshot U.S. Navy pilot, assigned to a top-secret mission in Russian territory during the height of the Cold War. When the mission goes wrong, he’s stuck behind enemy lines, but finds an unexpected ally in an ex-KGB agent (Branagh), who is obsessed with American culture.

There hasn’t been a ceramic Apple Watch since 2019’s Apple Watch Series 5, but that could be about to change. With the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 tipped to arrive next week, one notable Apple insider suggests that an optional, elevated ceramic shell could be on the table this year.

In fact, we may get new Apple Watches offered in not one, but two ceramic case choices. Here’s everything you need to know about Apple Watch 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 ceramic case and general design rumors.

No massive Apple Watch design changes for 2026

We’re a little more than a week out from Apple’s big September "Surprise and shine" smartwatch and smartphone launch, and prolific Apple insider Mark Gurman just dropped some juicy details about what we might expect from the Apple Watch 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

For starters, it doesn’t sound like either model will look all that different from last year’s Apple Watch 11 or Apple Watch Ultra 3. Instead, Gurman predicts a major redesign for both lines will probably arrive in 2027.

Under the hood, however, there will likely be small improvements, like a faster processor and potentially improved heart rate tracking. However, a much-rumored onboard fingerprint scanner to unlock the Apple Watch doesn't seem to be in the cards, says Gurman.

Apple's first ceramic model in seven years?

Despite Gurman putting the kibosh on some of the more exciting Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 design rumors, he’s fairly certain of one: the return of an optional ceramic case.

Why is a ceramic smartwatch case such a big deal? In addition to being more impact-resistant than stainless steel and aluminum, zirconia ceramic is also more scratch-resistant than the former (though not the latter).

That said, for most folks, the real appeal of a ceramic Apple Watch 12 or Ultra 4 case will come down to aesthetics. For example, the Series 5 in white ceramic (shown at the top of the page) was widely admired for its unique, elevated, pearly appearance.

According to Gurman, new ceramic color options for the latest Apple Watch models might include a similar pearly white and dark grey.

Apple Watch 12 ceramic: price prediction

Here’s the bad news: When the Apple Watch Series 5 launched in 2019, the standard model started at $399 while the ceramic Series 5 started at a whopping $1,299.

I’m not even going to wager how much a ceramic Apple Watch Ultra 4 might go for, as I’m also not convinced Cupertino will offer such a model. The Series 12 ceramic, however, seems much more possible.

I'm already anticipating a potential price increase for the standard flagship Apple Watch 12 (though nothing is confirmed). Let’s assume, for a moment, the new model starts at $449 instead of $399. In that scenario, I could see a ceramic Series 12 starting as high as $1,499. Woof.

'Furious' season 1 finale (Hulu)

Genre: Crime drama series

What's it about? "Furious" stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black. She's a former homicide detective working for the Feds, and her first case is a big one. She's on the hunt for a serial killer (Lola Petticrew), but this case isn't exactly what it seems. That's because the killer is really a sex trafficking survivor on a vigilante rampage. Once Alice realizes that, it might stop her from bringing the killer in when the time comes.

Why you should watch it: "Furious" has been a surprise hit for Hulu with an impressive 98% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, the season finale is finally here. So stream it now and then get ready for season 2.

'Love Island' season 8 reunion

Genre: Reality dating competition series

What it's about: "Love Island" season 8 may have wrapped up back in July, but things don't need to end just because one couple took home $100,000. Tonight's "Love Island" season 8 reunion brings back some fan favorites and bitter enemies, and sparks are sure to fly. The question now is: who gets burned?

Why you should watch it: Fans of reality shows (especially Bravo shows) will tell you that reunion episodes are some of the best. These former castmates have had weeks to stew in their resentments, and there's guaranteed to be some drama.

A new video popped up this week that purports to show off potential final designs for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone Ultra just nine days before Apple's "Surprise and Shine" event.

The video comes from the tech-focused Unbox Therapy, a YouTube channel that features unboxing and first looks at both official new products and leaked designs and dummy units.

In the video, host Lewis Hilsenteger shows off the high-end Pro Max and the much-rumored foldable iPhone. He also shows off previous dummy units, which include an all-aluminum version and one with faux displays for the Ultra.

Allegedly, the devices he received came from China.

Compared to the previous units Hilsenteger has, the Ultra is more "finished" with an Apple logo, buttons, speakers, and usable buttons. The device doesn't actually turn on, and the folding screen has pronounced creases despite leaks claiming that Apple has largely eliminated the crease.

Otherwise, we can see the passport style, à la the Galaxy Z Fold 8, a two-lens camera array, and a mix of rounded and sharp corners.

iPhone 18 Pro Max revealed

Hilsenteger followed the Ultra with a look at the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The first one he pulled out is in a dark cherry color, which should be the highlight color this year. He also pulled out a metallic blue hue, as well as a silver and a black version.

As expected, the 18 series shouldn't be much different design-wise from the iPhone 17 lineup. It's got the same edge-to-edge camera plateau with multiple lenses and the LED light on the right side.

Similar to the Galaxy S26 Ultra compared to Samsung's foldable, the Pro Max is significantly taller than the folded iPhone Ultra.

As noted by Hilsenteger, these devices appear to be close to finalized, but he hints that he might get more dummy units ahead of the Apple event that could be even more finalized. So slight changes could happen between these revealed units and the final final design.

Apple's September event

Apple has officially announced that its next big event will take place on September 9 at 10 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET. This will be the first event hosted by new CEO John Ternus, as former head Tim Cook stepped down on August 31.

Alongside the iPhones, we expect Apple to announce at least eight new products, including new AirPods, the next-generation Apple Watches, and potentially several new Apple smart home devices.

We also expect an upgraded Siri and AI integration to be a major part of every device discussed next week, since Apple announced Siri AI at WWDC 2026 back in June.

We're so close to the rumored iPhone Ultra debut that I can practically feel the foldable in my hands. On September 9, Apple is holding its "Surprise and shine" event, and the most exciting device is expected to Apple's first attempt at a foldable smartphone.

One prominent rumor suggested Apple would announce a new Apple Pencil to go with the iPhone Ultra, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says it probably won’t be announced. For potential buyers who want to use the larger phone as an iPad replacement, this might be disappointing, but it hasn't dampened my excitement.

How the Apple Pencil would have worked

If you're curious, the same report that shoots down the arrival of a new Apple Pencil also details how it would have worked if it had launched alongside the phone. According to Gurman, the iPhone Ultra Apple Pencil was set to be “stubbier,” to match the iPhone Ultra's height.

Like an iPad, the report said the Pencil would magnetically attach to the side of the phone for storage and charging. Unlike an iPad, though, attaching it to the side would make holding the giant phone while charging the Pencil a bit more uncomfortable than the iPad, which has the stylus affixed to the top of the device.

Interestingly, Gurman also said the stylus would leave "unsightly marks" on the iPhone Ultra's delicate inner screen, which could be the main reason Apple isn't launching the stylus.

But in the end, the report says Apple isn't launching an Apple Pencil for the iPhone Ultra to avoid conflicting with Steve Jobs’ vision for the original iPhone, which was very anti-stylus.

The future of Ultra and Pencils

This report doesn't mean Apple will never release a stylus for the iPhone Ultra. It just means that the company most likely won't have one ready for launch. Those "unsightly marks" could be a deal-breaker, but it wouldn't shock me if Apple went against Jobs' iPhone vision and released the Apple Pencil if consumer demand is strong enough.

Perhaps Apple will develop a new stylus tip to help prevent marks from forming on the delicate inner display.

Either way, I'm counting down the days until I can get my hands on Apple's latest foldable smartphone. As a longtime iPhone user, I've always looked jealously at Samsung's line of foldables, but I've always said I'd wait for Apple to take a crack at the category.

Now let's just hope the iPhone Ultra lives up to the hype.

Following Cursor's acquisition by SpaceX, OpenAI plans to end its direct model-access agreement with the AI coding platform. OpenAI has proposed November 12, 2026 as the cutoff date, although the exact timing could still change.

That sounds dramatic, particularly if GPT models are a regular part of your Cursor workflow. But it doesn't mean you'll suddenly be unable to use OpenAI models inside Cursor.

OpenAI has already outlined several ways Cursor users can continue accessing its models after the agreement ends. And for many people, there's nothing you need to change just yet.

Here's what's happening — and the three options you'll have.

Why is OpenAI leaving Cursor?

The change comes after SpaceX acquired Cursor, triggering a change-of-control provision in OpenAI's agreement with the company.

OpenAI says it has proposed ending the agreement on November 12, although Cursor could choose to terminate access earlier. Until then, existing OpenAI models should continue to work through Cursor as they do today.

There's one important distinction, though: OpenAI says future models won't be made available to Cursor under the existing agreement.

That means this isn't simply about whether GPT models already inside Cursor disappear. It's also about whether Cursor users will have access to OpenAI's newest models going forward.

Fortunately, OpenAI isn't closing the door completely.

Option 1: Bring your own OpenAI API key

The most straightforward workaround is to connect your own OpenAI API key to Cursor.

Cursor already lets users enter an OpenAI API key in its settings, which allows supported Chat and Agent requests to go directly through OpenAI rather than Cursor's model agreement.

There are some significant limitations.

Your API key won't replace OpenAI access everywhere inside Cursor. According to OpenAI, it won't work with features including Cursor Tab and autocomplete, Auto, Cloud or Background Agents, Automations, Cursor CLI or Cursor's API and SDK.

You'll also pay separately for API usage. Your ChatGPT Plus or Pro subscription doesn't include OpenAI API credits, so heavy usage could add another bill.

Still, if you primarily want GPT models available for Chat and Agent tasks, this may be the simplest option.

Option 2: Use OpenAI's Codex extension

There's another route if you're primarily using Cursor as a coding environment rather than relying on its AI layer: OpenAI's Codex IDE extension.

Because Cursor is based on VS Code, users can install compatible extensions directly inside the editor. OpenAI recommends its Codex IDE extension as one way to continue accessing its coding agent after the Cursor agreement ends.

This is an interesting option because it essentially separates the two products. Cursor remains your editor, while OpenAI provides the AI coding experience through its own extension.

For developers who specifically want OpenAI's latest coding models and agents, this could ultimately be the better long-term solution.

Option 3: Stick with Cursor — and use another model

The third option may also be the easiest: don't do anything.

OpenAI isn't the only AI provider available through Cursor, and the company has increasingly built its product around giving users access to multiple models.

Anthropic's Claude is a major alternative for coding, and Cursor also offers its own models and access to models from other providers.

Cursor co-founder Michael Truell has said OpenAI currently accounts for only around 5% of Cursor's model traffic, suggesting the platform is far less dependent on OpenAI than the headlines might make it appear.

So if you're not particularly attached to GPT, you may barely notice the change.

The takeaway

One of Cursor's biggest advantages has been the ability to choose between competing AI models inside a single coding environment. But SpaceX now owns a platform that depends, in part, on AI models supplied by companies competing with Elon Musk's own AI businesses.

OpenAI is the first major provider to change its relationship with Cursor following the acquisition. Whether it will be the last could matter much more than what happens on November 12.

‘LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian’ (Disney+)

‘Silo’ season 3 finale (Apple TV)

The vibes: Apocalypse now.

Meanwhile, in the present day, Bernard’s “cleaning” has bought time for the mechanicals to carry out a plan to prevent the Algorithm from poison-gassing them all. Though Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) seems out of the loop, Camille (Alexandria Riley) is enraged and it’s likely the Algorithm will not be happy either.

‘A Tale of Two Cities’ (MGM+)

The vibes: Dickensian drama with a lot of swooning.

When the messenger, Charles Darnay (François Civil), is arrested for treason, Lucie turns to lawyer Sydney Carton (Kit Harington) for help. Cue a tangled romance, simmering rivalries and two men whose fates are intertwined.

If you're looking to find what new movies and shows Netflix is adding this week, I've got you covered. The streaming service is adding an incredible 57 new movies and shows this week. That's a lot to sort through if you're only looking to add a few new titles to your watchlist, but I've done the work for you.

First, you're definitely going to want to check out "The Gentlemen" season 2 this week. Especially if you liked the 2019 Guy Ritchie movie. Those in the Gen Z crowd might want to prioritize "Earle Meets World," a new unscripted series about the TikTok star turned business mogul.

Aside from these two headliners, there's a pair of documentaries worth a watch. "Teenage Wasteland" dives deep into a group of teens who exposed a toxic waste dump in their town. Genre: Action-comedy series

What it's about: Theo James stars in "The Gentlemen" as Edward "Eddie" Horniman, the 13th Duke of Halstead. He's a former Army captain who served as a United Nations peacekeeping officer. He's also a drug kingpin on the rise. In this season, he's joined forces with Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) and her father, Bobby (Ray Winstone), to transform himself into a major power in the criminal underworld, but it might not go according to plan.

Why you should watch it: If you liked the movie version of "The Gentlemen," or really, any of Guy Ritchie's movies, then this show will probably work for you. Just be ready for lots of violence and crime.

'Earle Meets World'

Genre: Reality series

What's it about? Alix Earle is one of the biggest Gen Z internet personalities. She blew up thanks to TikTok, but since then has exploded into a full-blown entrepreneur. In "Earle Meets World," she takes you behind the scenes of her family and her business empire.

Why you need to watch it: Does this show feel like "The Kardashians" for Gen Z? Sure. But a lot of people like "The Kardashians." So if that's your speed, make sure to check out this version for the always online crowd.

'Teenage Wasteland'

Genre: Documentary movie

What it's about: "Turning Point" is a documentary franchise that has examined pivotal moments in modern history, from the Cold War to the War on Terror. In "Generation 9/11," filmmaker Brian Knappenberger examines how the September 11 attacks still impact everything in our daily lives, as well as the disastrous final chapter of the war in Afghanistan.

Why you should watch it: As someone who was in fifth grade living outside of D.C. when 9/11 happened, I've witnessed firsthand the changes that have come since the start of the War on Terror ... most of which have been bad. I cannot recommend watching this enough if you have the time.

'Jared Freid: The Family Plan'

Genre: Stand-up comedy special

What it's about: Jared Freid is a comedian, television host and podcaster. Now, he's back on Netflix with his second special for the streaming service, "Jared Freid: The Family Plan." Expect topics that are family-oriented, but maybe not always family-friendly.

Why you should watch it: I have to say, I loved the trailer for this stand-up special. It's filmed like a gripping documentary expose, interwoven with clips of Fried's stand-up filmed in front of an audience. I'm very curious to see this stand-up special.

Never has a blog so tailored made to my interests been delivered into my lap. Eerie enough to side-eye my mom's urn — it's beach themed! Her spirit a little too powerful sometimes, I swear.

This weekend, Tyler the Creator of "Chromakopia" and "Loiter Squad" fame released a new single, "Look Like My Mama" — or rather, he collaborated in a new single from AZ Chike, an artist not nearly as popular among "The Atlantic's" core audience — and it's packed with movie references.

I'm breaking down all the ones I recognized, plus where to stream hit movies like:

First, real quick, a lil about me: Like the other wannabe mall goths, I stayed up to the wee hours watching "Loiter Squad" on Adult Swim in high school. Tyler the Creator's "Chromakopia" released the year after my mom died, and clotheslined me emotionally on a sunny afternoon in a home that she'll never see. (Our first!)

I got covid and missed his tour, something I genuinely regret to this day. So for him to come out with a song like "Look Like My Mama" that references several fantastic movies I have not shut up about since starting this job is...interestin'.

A lil about Tyler the creator: The Grammy-winning artist has been relatively quiet so far this year until dropping "That Guy" and "Sag Harbor" last month.

1) 'Sinners' (HBO Max)

As you might have guessed from the lead image, there's a "Sinners" reference. What you might not have spotted is that it uses the same nifty cinematography trick Ryan Coogler did in his hit horror romance movie: a subtle shift between aspect ratios tied to emotional moments to really hammer home the themes of its story.

If you haven't seen "Sinners" yet, let me tap the sign again: You should watch "Sinners." It's stunning, not overly scary (blood and guts withstanding), and we watch it every Sunday because that's the rule. That's the goal now. Because, like "SNL's" Jeremy Culhane, I'm on a crusade to get "Sinners" to the No. 1 spot in the HBO Max Top 10 by hell or high water. He just doesn't know about it yet.

2) 'I Saw the TV Glow' (PVOD)

"I Saw the TV Glow" by the fantastic director Jane Schoenbrun (they're my Christopher Nolan), a.k.a. the most haunting nostalgic throwback you'll ever see. Granted, I wasn't familiar with Schoenbrun before "I Saw the TV Glow," and now I'm obsessed. Its so rare I get the chance to call a horror movie beautiful, but this one buries under your skin to rip out your heart, in no small part to a phenomenal turn by Justice Smith. (I got goosebumps just thinking about that scream at the end).

Set in a nameless American suburb, Owen (Smith) is flopping through the usual teenage awkwardness plus a tough family situation. When a hot goth girl, Maddy (Brigette Lundy-Paine), introduces him to a surreal late-night TV serial called “The Pink Opaque," the show’s supernatural world begins to mirror the one around him in unsettling ways. And worse, it's awakening something inside him he can't control.

3) 'Napoleon Dynamite' (Prime Video)

If you haven't seen "Napoleon Dynamite" yet, you're not missing much, but it's good for a laugh on a lazy afternoon. I still can't resist saying "gosh" in the way Jon Heder's unexpectedly magnetic lede does from time to time.

He stars as the titular Napoleon Dynamite, a super-awkward high school student with nothing to prove and a short temper. When he helps his friend Pedro (Efren Ramirez) campaign for class president against a popular girl named Summer (Haylie Duff), it's clear to anyone with eyes that they're out of their league. Their doomed campaign is doomed to succeed, because it's a light entertainment movie after. And heck, it is nice to see all of the nerds and underdogs be the real heroes in such a quintessential Aughts teen movies

4. 'Men in Black' (Netflix, MGM+)

"Men In Black," on the other hand, still lives up to the hype. And I say that as someone who watched it for the first time in their 20s. That Will Smith joke with the table took me OUT.

The adventures of sharp-dressed alien-hunters J (Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) in the first "Men in Black" spawned not one but two sequels off the back of this fantastic movie. "Men in Black" sees Smith's agent's origin story, as he starts out as a cocky and aloof cop that falls headfirst into a mission to save the world.

While Smith's star power in the 90's was enough to draw people to the movies for damn near anything, "Men in Black" succeeds because of Smith and Jones as a duo. Their highly quotable banter makes "Men in Black" endlessly rewatchable.

This warm CBS sitcom boasts eight seasons and 155 episodes that are all free on The Roku Channel. Max Greenfield plays Dave Johnson, a relentlessly friendly Midwesterner who moves his family to a mostly Black neighborhood in Los Angeles, right next door to his far more guarded neighbor Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer).

The show plays the pair's culture clashes for a steady stream of laughs without ever turning mean, which is getting rarer with each day that passes in the industry. It's also genuinely funny. If you want a low-stakes, feel-good binge to keep on in the background, this one is definitely a winner.

'The Paper' season 2

"The Paper" is the mockumentary spinoff of "The Office," with the same documentary crew that once haunted Dunder Mifflin now trained on the Toledo Truth Teller. It's a struggling Ohio newspaper that can barely get off the ground with the way print media is treated in this day and age.

Greg Daniels and Michael Koman's comedy caught on fast with its first season, and Domhnall Gleeson's editor-in-chief Ned Sampson opens season 2 fresh off sweeping the Ohio Journalism Awards, which mostly convinces him he's ready for a real crusade. His target is a stuffy local private club, a fight that could sink the whole paper, and he's trying to sort out a slow-building romance with reporter Mare (Chelsea Frei) at the same time.

'The Traitors: New Blood'

After four seasons of watching "Real Housewives" and reality TV veterans lie to each other in a Scottish castle, "The Traitors" is trying something new: no famous faces at all. "New Blood" is the first all-civilian edition, with 22 everyday Americans, chosen from more than 60,000 applicants, taking Alan Cumming up on his invitation to scheme and backstab for a prize pot worth up to $250,000.

The game is the same beautifully cruel machine as ever. A handful of secret Traitors "murder" a Faithful each night while the group tries to root them out and banish them at the roundtable, and if even one Traitor is left standing at the end, they take the whole prize.

'Line of Fire'

Peter Krause, back on TV after leaving "9-1-1," and Hope Davis play Mike and Jane Hollingsworth, a separated couple who happen to be a Secret Service agent and a U.S. Marshal, with their grown kids scattered across the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Department of Justice.

When a murder that looks oddly simple escalates into a deadly conspiracy while a killer starts targeting government agents, the Hollingsworths have to lean on a lifetime of protective-service training and on each other to catch him, even if it means breaking their own rules.

We lost three real ones this week: Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, and Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime. That's where I come in. I'm here every weekend combing through the Netflix top 10 to help you skip the scrolling and get to streaming. Because who wants to waste their precious streaming time with an overhyped dud?

This week, the movies that made the cut include a heartwarming family drama starring Adam Sandler's daughter and "Yellowjackets'" Melanie Lynskey, a Spanish language theater that's taken over the world, and a spectacular animated Spider-Man movie from the studio behind "K-Pop Demon Hunters."

'Don't Say Good Luck' (2026)

I love a comedy that makes me cry, especially when I go in with low expectations. "Don't Say Good Luck" is the latest movie from the Adam Sandler clan, starring his daughter Sunny alongside "Yellowjackets'" Melanie Lynskey in a charming mother-daughter story that can't help put pull at your heartstrings.

When 16-year-old Sophie (Sandler) lands her dream role in her high school's production of the popular Broadway musical “Waitress, the timing couldn't be worse. Her mom (Lynskey) just learned that her cancer has come back, leaving Sophie torn between spending what time she has left with her and preparing for the part that could determine her college prospects. Meanwhile, her dad (Max Greenfield) struggles to hold down the fort while her two overbearing grandparents (Bebe Neuwirth and Steve Buscemi) insist on moving in to "help."

'Facing El Chapo"

This Spanish-language crime thriller is holding strong in the top 10 for the second week in a row, bumped from its #1 spot by two heavy-hitters: Adam Scott's and Robert DeNiro's serial killer thriller "The Whisper Man" and our first peek at Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto VI."

Based on a true story, "Facing El Chapo" stars Noé Hernández and Alfonso Herrera as a pair of cops on a routine traffic stop that ends up changing their lives forever. When they open the car, they find none other than cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, one of the world's most dangerous criminal. Now, they just have to survive bringing him in, which is easier said than done.

'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' (2018)

"Into the Spider-Verse" made the top 10 once again this week, which means I get to continue my streak of screaming about how good it is. This Spider-Man movie sparked a modern-day animation renaissance by leveraging 3D technology with 2D design principles to create a vibrant new style. Here's a really neat video on it if you're interested in learning more!

It's from the same studio as "K-Pop Demon Hunters," and one of the best "Spider-Man" adaptations to date imo. It's your standard Spider-Man origin story with a multiverse twist, starring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, a normal teenager who learns with great power comes great responsibility from his washed-up mentor Spidey (voiced by Jake Johnson) and a bunch of other multiverse web-slingers.

'JAŸ-Z IN 8'

JAŸ-Z is having a busy 2026: This year marks the 30th anniversary of the hip-hop icon's landmark debut album “Reasonable Doubt,” as well as the 25th anniversary of his genre-defining sixth studio album "The Blueprint." So it's a fitting time to check in with Jay, the performer, but also Shawn Carter, the man, which is exactly what this eight-part docuseries sets out to do.

Sitting down with longtime friend, producer, and director Rick Rubin, JAŸ-Z will delve into the lyrics, stories, life experiences, and creative process behind the iconic tracks (“99 Problems,” “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “4:44,” and so on) that have cemented him as one of rap's greatest figures for the past three decades. Two new episodes will debut weekly through October 9.

'Youth'

Irish actress-writer Sharon Horgan — who has been cracking us up for years with funny series like "Pulling," "Catastrophe" and "Bad Sisters" — leads this new HBO comedy as Alex, a London literary agent and 50-year-old divorcee searching for sex and love whilst caring for her ailing parents and parenting her grown son (Aran Murphy, IRL son of Cillian).

"Youth" will premiere with the first two episodes on Sunday, September 20 at 10 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max, followed by one episode weekly. The cast also includes Sharlene Whyte, Rupert Friend and Robbie Gee.

‘Backrooms’

One of summer's biggest movies, "Backrooms," arrives on HBO Max on September 25 for everyone who missed the psychological horror film in theaters. Directed by internet creator Kane Parsons (known online as Kane Pixels) and based on his viral YouTube found-footage series, the freaky flick follows Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a struggling furniture owner who discovers a strange, hidden doorway that leads into a seemingly infinite labyrinth of liminal, physics-defying spaces.

Worried about her patient, Clark's therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve) follows him down into the confounding alternate dimension and soon has to confront her own psychological undoing.

'4 Blocks Zero'

The German crime drama "4 Blocks" ran for three seasons between May 2017 and November 2019. Now this prequel delves even further into that universe, taking us to 1990s Berlin amid the early days of the Hamady family, long before they became that city's most influential clan.

Malik Hamady (Rami Fadel Khalaf) has been focused on ensuring a better life for his four children and mother-in-law since fleeing Lebanon. But the release of his brother-in-law Ibrahim (Tariq Al-Saies) after eight years in prison triggers a chain reaction that draws the whole family into Berlin's dangerous criminal underworld.

Speaking to the BBC, WHAM! band member Andrew Ridgeley said: "There weren't as many people as greeted The Beatles. It was a much more muted affair. There was no knowledge of us there at the time."

On the impact of the tour, he added: "It did motivate some people to take up a path in life which they would otherwise not have chosen. So that is a legacy on a personal level, I think, probably the most powerful and important.

"We had a responsibility, being the first people to play real Western pop music to those people. When we talked to some of these Chinese people afterwards, and they were so excited, some of them had not experienced anything like it, it was a great privilege."

‘Scary Movie 6’ (September 3)

“Scary Movie,” frequently referred to as “Scary Movie ,” is the triumphant, unhinged comeback for horror-comedy’s most famous spoof series. This new film skewers the modern era of “requels” and elevated horror, taking hilarious shots at modern “Scream” films, “Smile,” “Talk to Me,” “Megan,” “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” and A24-style psychological thrillers.

Cindy Campbell and her friends are pulled back into danger when a new masked killer begins targeting them. Twenty-six years after their original encounter with a mysterious murderer, the group is forced to reunite and figure out who is behind the latest attacks. The film brings back Marlon Wayans as Shorty, Shawn Wayans as Ray, Anna Faris as Cindy and Regina Hall as Brenda, alongside a new generation of characters.

‘Colin From Accounts’ season 3 (September 10)

The third season of “Colin From Accounts” brings the beloved, critically acclaimed Australian romantic comedy to its official finale. Real-life married creators and stars Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall chose to conclude the series with Season 3, stating that three seasons felt like the natural creative peak to say goodbye to the characters. The show heads into its final lap after sweeping major honors, including multiple AACTA and Logie Awards, and establishing itself as a global cult comedy hit.
