NDMA “Extremely Severe Alerts” Message

Many users received an “Extremely Severe Alerts” message on their mobile devices, which read: “This is a test message for Cell Broadcast alert testing in ROHINI, NEW DELHI. No action is required on receipt of this message. NDMA”.

Right after the above message, another flash message was received, stating that India has launched Cell Broadcast using indigenous technology for instant disaster alerting service for its citizens. Furthermore, the message appeared in both English and Hindi languages, and read: ” India, launches Cell Broadcast using indigenous technology, for instant disaster alerting service for its citizens. Alert citizens, safe nation. No action is required from the public upon receipt of this message. This is a test message. – NDMA

Well, nothing to worry about, as these alerts are part of the emergency alert system run by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), which is meant to provide real-time emergency information to people. At the moment, there is nothing to worry about this test message, and users can simply tap “OK” to dismiss the alert.

Apart from the change in the internal storage, the device comes as a carbon copy of the already available Vivo S50.

Here is more to it.

Vivo S50t 5G – Specs and Features

As stated above, it is a rebrand of the Vivo S50 device, and features a 6.59″ AMOLED flat display with 1.5K resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels and 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate. Further, the display supports multiple sampling rates which include 130Hz for normal use, 300Hz for gaming, and 2000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. HDR and P3 wide colour gamut support are also given for this device.

Depending upon the colour options, the Confession and Serene Blue variants have a thickness of 7.59mm, while the Space Black and Inspiration Purple variants have a thickness of 7.49mm. The device weighs around 196/197gm depending upon the colour options.

Under the hood, it has the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC and boots with OriginOS 6 based on the Android 16 operating system. However, unlike the Vivo S50, it uses UFS 3.1-based internal storage, but the same LPDDR5X quad-channel RAM is used in this. Moreover, this is only available in two memory variants of 12GB/512GB and 16GB/512GB.

The rear camera setup features a 50MP main sensor (f/1.88, OIS, AF) paired with an 8MP wide-angle camera (f/2.2, AF) and a 50MP periscope lens (f/2.65, OIS, AF). On the front, there is a 50MP selfie shooter. Notably, both the front and rear cameras feature a dedicated flash.

It packs a massive 6500mAh battery, supporting 90W fast wired charging and OTG reverse wired charging. Like the Vivo S50, it does not support wireless charging.

3D ultrasonic single-point fingerprint scanner, dual SIM, WiFi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, Type-C port, gravity sensor, photosensitive sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, electronic compass, infrared remote control, flicker sensor, and X-axis linear motor are its additional features.

Pricing and Availability

As mentioned in the specs above, two memory variants are made available for this device. The 12GB/512GB variant is priced at CNY 3199, while the 16GB/512GB variant is priced at CNY 3499. This makes this “t” variant CNY 100 cheaper than the Vivo S50.

April 2026 non-security preview update: Windows 11, versions 25H2 and 24H2

Changelog

Gradual rollout

[Gaming] New! Xbox mode is available on Windows 11 PCs, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. Inspired by the Xbox console experience, Xbox mode offers a streamlined, full‑screen interface that puts your games front and centre while minimising background distractions. Xbox mode is designed for those moments when you want to lean back, pick up a controller, and focus on the game. Enter Xbox mode from the Xbox app, Game Bar settings, or by pressing Windows logo key + F11.

[File Explorer]

New! This update expands the list of archive formats that can be used in File Explorer to include uu, cpio, xar, and NuGet Packages (nupkg).

With this update, View and Sort preferences are preserved in folders such as Downloads and Documents when apps launch File Explorer directly to those locations.

This update removes a white flash that could appear when opening This PC or while resizing the Details pane in dark mode.

This update improves the reliability of relevant explorer.exe processes so they stop after closing File Explorer windows.

[Input]

New! You can feel haptic feedback effects on compatible input devices when performing certain actions, such as aligning objects in PowerPoint, snapping or resizing windows. These haptic signals can be turned on or off in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse, Touchpad, or Pen > Haptic signals. This experience is supported on Surface Slim Pen 2, ASUS Pen 3.0, and MSI Pen 2 with haptic feedback. Support for additional compatible devices, including select mice such as Logitech MX Master 4, might become available as hardware partners release updates.

New! Voice typing on the touch keyboard now looks simpler and more intuitive. The updated design removes the full‑screen overlay and shows voice typing animations directly on the dictation key, helping you stay focused without extra visual distractions.

New! The Arabic 101 Legacy keyboard layout is now available. You can add it when selecting a keyboard for Arabic under Time & Language > Language & Region. This option is for those who prefer the keyboard design used before recent changes with AltGr.

This update improves the reliability of setting custom tools under Settings > Bluetooth & Devices> Wheel.

This update improves the persistence of the Fluid Dictation setting in voice typing.

This update improves the reliability of keyboard navigation for emoji panels (Windows logo key+ Period).

This update improves the reliability of typing when using the ADLaM keyboard.

[Sharing]New! Drag Tray is now called Drop Tray. Its settings are now under Settings > System > Multitasking (previously Nearby sharing). Drop Tray uses a smaller peek view. This improvement helps prevent the Drop Tray from opening unintentionally and makes it easier to dismiss when you work near the top of the screen.

[Introducing Agents on Taskbar] New! Windows is adding a new way to monitor your agents from the taskbar. This experience supports agents across first- and third-party apps, with Researcher in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app as the first adopter. When a researcher works on a report, Windows shows progress on the taskbar so you can check updates at a glance. Hover over the Microsoft 365 Copilot icon to see real-time progress. When the report is ready, Windows notifies you. Select the notification or the icon to return to the app and review and use the results.

[Enterprise State Roaming (ESR)]New! ESR can now be managed through Windows Backup for Organisations policies. This makes setup easier for IT administrators.

[Policy-Based Removal of Preinstalled Microsoft Apps] New! This update adds support for a dynamic app removal list to the “Remove Default Microsoft Store packages” policy for Windows Enterprise and Education. Administrators can remove additional MSIX/APPX-packaged apps by specifying their app package family names using Group Policy. The dynamic list is not currently available in Intune Settings Catalogue. Validation must be performed using Group Policy or a custom OMA-URI.

[Printing]New! This update adds a new icon to show where a printer supports Windows Protected Print Mode in print settings.

[Windows Driver Policy update]New! This update improves Windows security by changing how the Windows kernel trusts third‑party drivers. Default trust for cross‑signed drivers is removed, while drivers from the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program (WHCP) and an allow list of trusted legacy drivers remain allowed. Windows audits driver compatibility for at least 100 hours and three reboots before enabling enforcement. After enforcement, a small number of cross‑signed drivers might be blocked.

[Enhanced security and performance for batch files]New! Administrators and Application Control for Business policy authors now have additional control over how the system processes batch files and Command Prompt (CMD) scripts. Starting with this release, administrators can enable a more secure processing mode for batch files. This mode prevents batch files from changing during execution.

[Microsoft Store]This update reduces unexpected errors when downloading and installing apps from the Microsoft Store, including errors 0x80070057, 0x80240008, and 0x80073d28.

[Fonts] This update includes improvements to the Leelawadee UI font family for the Thai, Lao, Khmer, and Lontara scripts to enhance glyph sequencing, positioning, and rendering.

[Audio]This update improves third-party driver compatibility with midisrv.exe.

[Taskbar]This update improves the reliability of loading the system tray area of the taskbar.

[Windows Hello] This update improves:

Reliability of Windows Hello Face.

Persistence of Windows Hello Fingerprint across upgrades.

[Storage] This update improves:

Performance when viewing storage information for large volumes in Settings> System > Storage > Advanced Storage Settings > Disks & Volumes.

The size limit for formatting FAT32 volumes from the command line has been increased from 32GB to 2TB.

[Delivery Optimisation]This update improves memory usage, reducing the likelihood that it will use an unexpectedly large amount of memory.

[Display and graphics]This update improves the persistence and availability of colour profile options for supported monitors.

[Kiosk mode]This update simplifies configuration for allowed packaged apps in kiosks when Microsoft Edge is one of the allowed apps.

[General Performance]This update improves the performance of launching startup apps after starting your device (apps listed under Settings > Apps > Startup).

[General Reliability]This update brings underlying changes to help improve explorer.exe reliability, including at sign‑in, when interacting with taskbar menus and Task View, when unpinning items from File Explorer’s Quick Access, and more.

Normal Rollout

[Secure Boot] With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high-confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices receive the new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout.

[Authentication (Kerberos)] This update improves Kerberos authentication in Remote Desktop sessions using Remote Credential Guard, addressing error 0xc000009a.

[Remote Desktop (known issue)] Fixed: This update addresses an issue that affects the Remote Desktop Connection security warning dialogue. The dialog could render incorrectly in a multi-monitor scenario when the monitors had different scaling settings. This might occur after installing the April 2026 (KB5083769) security update.

[Windows Security] This update improves event logging related to CVE‑2024‑30098 by including the name of the affected application. This change makes it easier to identify applications that rely on smart card certificates and may need updates following recent security changes.

To check for the latest update, enter Windows update settings (Settings> Windows update) and select Check for updates.

To choose to get the latest non-security and features updates as soon as they become available for your device, select Start> Settings> Windows Update and toggle on “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available”.

Before installing the latest update, do note that devices with an unrecommended BitLocker Group Policy configuration might be required to enter their BitLocker recovery key.

Well, now a new Y series device has popped up on the Bluetooth SIG certification, hinting at an imminent launch.

Read more about it below.

Vivo Y31s 5G – Bluetooth SIG

On the Bluetooth SIG certification, the model number “V2614” has appeared with the moniker listed next to it as Vivo Y31s 5G. While previously, this certification used to confirm the Bluetooth version the device is going to carry, now it doesn’t reveal much about the device.

Also, other than this, it hasn’t appeared on any other certifications yet which could reveal its specs. So, nothing much is available at the moment for this device. Regarding its launch in India, it is currently not listed on the Indian BIS certification, so the India launch can’t be confirmed at the moment. Furthermore, don’t be confused with the Vivo Y31s 5G device which was launched back in 2021 in the Chinese market.

In other news, Vivo is going to launch its flagship devices, Vivo X300 Ultra and Vivo X300 FE, in the Indian market, which is scheduled to happen on May 6th, 2026.

Xbox Mode: Rolling out to Windows 11 PCs

Xbox Mode adds another way to enjoy games on your PC, with a controller-optimised, full-screen experience that is built for play. This mode offers a streamlined interface that puts your library and recently played titles within easy reach while minimising background distractions.

With Xbox Mode, you can:

Browse and launch games using a controller-optimised interface.

Jump back and forth between Xbox mode and the Windows 11 desktop whenever you want.

Access an aggregated game library, including the full games catalogue from Xbox Game Pass, and installed games from leading PC storefronts.

Xbox Mode is another step in Xbox’s broader work to make Xbox feel consistent across screens while giving you more choice in how and where you play.

Availability

Some players in select markets will be able to download the Xbox mode experience today, with availability expanding to more players in those markets over the next several weeks.

To get access as soon as it becomes available for your PC, make sure your device is set to receive the latest Windows updates:

Open Settings on your Windows 11 PC

Select Windows Update

Turn on Get the latest updates as soon as they are available
