Samsung Display is the world's leading AMOLED producer by volume and revenue, and is also the world's only QD-OLED panel maker. SDC is producing around 500 million AMOLED panels per year (both flexible and rigid panels) used in smartphones, wearables, tablets, laptops and more. The company's QD-OLED panels are used in monitors and TVs.

Samsung's Privacy Flex Magic Pixel LEAD 2.0 technology adds 10% to the cost of the OLED panel
In 2024, Samsung Display revealed its Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) privacy technology that adjusts the viewing angle of a flexible OLED screen so that it is not visible to the person next to it. In February 2026, it announced that Galaxy S26 Ultra, the first phone to use this new FMP privacy technology.
According to a new report from Counterpoint, the FMP technology increases the cost of production of a flexible AMOLED display by around 10%, compared to an LTPO smartphone display without FMP.

Korea-based FINETEK announced that it has received the company's larger order to date, a 19.5 billion Won ($13.3 million USD) order to supply equipment for Samsung Display's Vietnam OLED module production line.

FINETEK expects to accelerate its display-related orders in the future. The company has been supplying display production equipment to Korea's local display industry (mainly LGD and SDC) for the past 18 years.

Samsung unveils three new OLED foldables and the world's brightest smartwatch
Samsung held its Galaxy Unpacked event in London yesterday, where it announced five new OLED devices: three foldable smartphones and two smartwatches. Between them, the new lineup introduces nine distinct OLED panels, some utilizing exciting new technologies. The lineup also includes the world's brightest smartwatch, surpassing even Garmin's microLED smartwatch.

We'll start with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, a "wide" foldable that sits between the Flip and the Fold in size - and confusingly, it is not the successor to last year's Galaxy Z Fold7. It has a 7.6" 1848x2448 (3,000 nits peak) 4:3 foldable LTPO Flex Titanium OLED, and the external display is a 5.5" 1248x1972 10:16 LTPO OLED.
Value Electronics' 2026 TV Shootout pits OLED against MicroLED RGB LCD - the results should give OLED makers food for thought
Value Electronics, an independent Audio/Video retailer in New York, hosted its well-respected annual TV Shootout Evaluation event a couple of days ago, bringing together several flagship TVs side-by-side to compare picture quality attributes. The TVs, which were professionally calibrated to their best potential, were reviewed by a panel of judges using test patterns.
The judges looked at six flagship displays. Three OLED models (Samsung's S95H, Sony's XR80M2 (also known as the Bravia 8 II) and LG's OLED G6), and three Micro-RGB LCD models (Samsung's R95H, Sony's XR90M2, and LG's MRGB95B). Judges evaluated picture quality attributes in SDR and HDR categories. Every display delivered outstanding performance, with exceptionally close results overall and across many of the individual picture quality attributes.
Samsung Display starts mass producing 1600 nits tandem laptop OLED panels, meeting the new VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification
Samsung Display has begun to mass produce and supply tandem AMOLED panels for laptops that meet the newly-announced VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification.

SDC's new tandem AMOLED panels achieve a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits, meeting the specifications of the new standard, that calls for black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio (OPR).
