Join us in Baja this summer for a restorative immersion in creativity, wellness, and local culture
Summer in Baja is magical. The desert turns greener, the ocean warms, and life settles into a gentler rhythm — an invitation to step off the treadmill and sink into something slower, richer, and entirely your own.
Stay for a long weekend or linger for weeks — the pace is yours to set.
While you're here, your days might include writing sessions, Spanish class, movement, art, and long stretches of doing absolutely nothing at all.
Immerse yourself in three pathways — join one, explore all, or follow your own flow.
1
Take a writing sabbatical
Find the solitude and focus you need to bring your story to life — whether it’s a memoir, novel, or personal exploration through words. This is your time to finally finish that first (or second) draft, or make real progress on the project that’s been calling you.
You’ll also have plenty of chances to gather with fellow writers, dive into rich conversations, trade ideas, and get feedback that sparks fresh inspiration during communal meals and informal gatherings.
2
Brush up on your Spanish
Hone your ability to hablar español in fun, engaging classes with local teachers who tailor lessons to your needs, interests, and level.
Sessions may include guided excursions to local shops and venues so you can soak up the culture and practice Spanish in real-world settings.
3
Boost your energy & vitality
Use this summer to reconnect with your body through simple, powerful practices that support vitality, resilience, and longevity.
Through guided sessions, you’ll explore bodily awareness, breathwork for nervous system regulation, and foundational practices that support metabolic health, balance, mobility, proprioception, and grip strength.

Each day you’ll be treated to three nourishing, from-scratch meals featuring locally sourced ingredients, lovingly prepared by our culinary team to leave you feeling satisfied and energized.
Beyond your selected immersion pathway, you’ll be invited to participate in:
Plenty of opportunities for gathering & connection each day
Structured conversations based on MEA curriculum
Mindfulness and movement sessions that bring clarity and insight
Creativity-sparking art sessions that inspire and delight
Opportunities for adventure tailored to your interests
Delicious communal meals with your fellow participants
Design your days, your way.
Build your own rhythm here. Join every activity or keep things spacious — early mornings, slow starts, deep dives, or just what truly calls to you.
The only non‑negotiable we recommend is showing up for meals, where you’ll savor delicious food, meet remarkable people, and sink into the kind of conversations that stay with you.
Why guests love their time here
MEA Refresh was not what I expected but exactly what I needed. Each day brought a new surprise and challenged me to go outside of my comfort zone. The caliber of the people I met opened discussions that enriched my life. All of it was magical.
– Susan Chritton
It's the most beautiful campus. From oceanside yoga to fresh smoothies. I felt at home with all my needs met and like a tourist with new discoveries every day. Makes me want to visit regularly, or to live there.
– Ellen Kiss
Spanish Language Focus
Hone your Spanish-speaking skills while immersed in local culture
Sharpen your Spanish through engaging lessons with local teachers who bring the language to life through real-world connection and cultural exploration. You’ll build conversational confidence in dynamic, interactive classes that weave in the traditions, expressions, and everyday life of Baja.
Whether you’re just beginning or looking to advance, this immersion offers personalized support and a chance to make improving your Spanish a meaningful part of your summer.
Marie Blessing
Spanish Teacher
Marie will be teaching July 13-17, July 20-24, and July 27-31
Marie teaches group Spanish lessons twice a week in Todos Santos, BCS, during the high season and also offers private individual or private group lessons. She integrates role-play, storytelling, interactive games and lots of laughs into her classes, creating an unforgettable experience. She finds immense joy and satisfaction seeing students develop their language skills and progress into making meaningful connections with the Spanish-speaking community.
Marie grew up in Texas and New Mexico and learned Spanish at a young age with the local Latino population in her neighborhood. She later studied academically and received a degree in Spanish Literature with a focus on Translation and Interpreting. She has a long Spanish teaching history working in private schools with elementary students, home-school programs, as well as private adult groups and individual lessons.
She’s also a writer and illustrator and has published several books mostly inspired by Chicano art and cultural themes. Chola the Cholla, her most popular, is a mini children’s bilingual book, available at local shops and bookstores throughout Baja California Sur and Northern New Mexico.
Lorena Madera
Spanish Teacher
Lorena will be teaching August 3–7, August 10–14, August 17–21, and August 24–28.
Lorena is an educator with a creative and experiential approach and is dedicated to creating meaningful and human-centered learning spaces. Her work is rooted in an integral perspective, where learning goes beyond the intellectual and is lived through experience.
Her teaching style integrates creativity, the body, and presence, and she offers a more organic and natural way of learning. Her classes are designed for Spanish to be absorbed intuitively through conversation, movement, observation, and personal experience.
In her sessions, participants find a space of trust where they can express themselves freely and relate to the language in an authentic way. Each one is invited to explore at their own pace, in an environment where mistakes are part of the process and learning becomes a close, meaningful, and engaging experience.
Writing sessions throughout the summer in partnership with Abre Tu Boca
Amanda Fisher
Teaching Weeks: Aug 2–8, Aug 9–15, Aug 16–22, Aug 23–29, Aug 30–Sept 4, Sept 7–12, Sept 13–19, and Sept 20–26
Amanda is an interdisciplinary social practice artist and writer drawn to the power of language to shape – and reshape – our realities. Her work explores perspective as a dynamic force, one that can be used to access and recode both the individual interior landscape and, thread by thread, the collective one.
Amanda served as co-director of Colectivo El Nido, a community arts and cultural space, and is the founder of the Todos Santos–based writing project Abre Tu Boca. Through her work, she has cultivated a vibrant community of writers, helping them unlock and embody the power of their voice. Her projects – spanning social practice and gallery spaces – have been presented in Los Angeles, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
Nica Celly
Teaching Weeks: July 12–18, July 19–25, and July 26–August 1
An artist by training and entrepreneur by experience, Nica Celly uses language as a tool to transform the abstract into the tangible. She holds an MFA from California College of the Arts and a BA from Gallatin at NYU, and has received numerous fellowships and residencies.
Working at the intersection of disruptive business and contemplative practice, Nica partners with purpose-driven founders to build businesses from the roots up—offering holistic branding, design strategy, and meaningful communications. Her work brings clarity and coherence to visionary ideas, with collaborations spanning social justice, design, music, art, yoga, and regenerative agriculture.
Daniela Fabián Orozco
Daniela will step in as faculty if needed. She brings both linguistic precision and cultural fluency to her work. A first-generation Mexican with Colombian and Guatemalan heritage – and lived experience in the US – Daniela moves seamlessly across languages and cultural contexts.
As a translator, she goes beyond literal meaning to capture tone, nuance, slang, and subcultural expression. Her work spans literature, art, and education, with a focus on purpose-driven projects such as bilingual brand voice development. She specializes in helping organizations communicate authentically across cultures, ensuring language reflects not just words, but worldview.
Artist in Residence
July 15 - September 4
Yasmine is a highly skilled art teacher and executive coach with a 25-year background developing and running an award-winning art school for students aged 4 to 84.
She will help you tap into your productive energy and encourage you to express yourself on your own terms as you visualize opportunities for change. You will be stimulated to harness your imagination in an atmosphere of positive reinforcement while you connect more deeply with the flow of creativity naturally embedded within you.

Mind & body wake-up
Begin or end your day on our outdoor beach platform or in the movement room overlooking the ocean.
