Most eLearning games are flat. Sprite characters. Scrolling backgrounds. Side-to-side movement. Functional, sure, but not exactly the kind of thing that makes a learner lean forward. What if your Storyline course had a fully playable 3D platformer inside it? I just published a walkthrough on building exactly that: a Three.js-powered 3D side-scroller that runs as a Storyline web object. The character walks, runs, jumps, climbs ladders, bounces off springs, collects coins and keys, opens treasure chests, and every single interaction feeds back into Storyline through variables. The learner explores a 3D world. When they reach specific hotspots, your course responds with side quests, knowledge checks, scenarios, whatever learning content you've built in your Storyline layers. When they finish the level, completion data flows to your LMS through the Results slide. The setup: • Character from Mixamo or Sketchfab (free, hundreds of characters available) • Level assets from Kenney (free, CC0) • Level assembled in Blender (free) • One HTML file handles rendering, physics, camera, mobile controls, and Storyline integration No plugins.
