    $1,000,000 raised for charity!! 🎉 Now you may ask yourself "Email Marketing for charities?" - Yes, that works! This year I started an interesting side quest I never knew I needed. A friend of mine was super passionate about a specific charity and introduced me to the founder so that we could just connect and learn about what each one of us is doing. I didn't intend to offer my emails but as you know, I'm a big fan of charities myself so it didn't take long for me to fold and say "I'm in!" haha. Here's what we did to help raise more with email marketing: Step 1: List Growth 📈 We synced the donor data into our Klaviyo account so that we could keep donors up to date. We also gave them the ability to spread the word with their friends by sending out sharable links & graphics that proved that they contributed. We also gave people who didn't donate but visited the page the chance to sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date about trends. In addition to that, we also put links to the newsletter everywhere on socials in stories, highlights, bios, etc. The idea was to get people hooked on the welcome series even if they're not ready to make a donation yet. Sometimes all it needs is all the info that's already available online packaged in a short and understandable email. Even if the info is out there, it's worth repeating it since no one will go out there and try to learn as much about your company or charity as possible. Step 2: Consistent campaign calendar.⏰ Every week we send 4 informational news emails. Totally different from what you'd do in ecommerce the motto here is "the more the better". Simply because people want to stay up to date. A charity is always connected to a cause and people want to know about that cause and all the updates. Just like a newspaper basically. It's important to note that all emails were purely informational so the frequency here is at a level that would be considered spam in ecommerce but is completely normal in the charity space. Step 3: Automations ⚙️ Once a donor would donate they'd enter a welcome series with 1 email every 2 days for 10 days (5 emails total). In that sequence, we thank them for their contribution, tell them the story of the charity, and give them options to spread the word. If a non-donor would enter the welcome series we'd send out the same series, except for the thank you email, and include a CTA to donate in the emails. And that's it already. That's how we collected $1,000,000 with 12.804 donations and built a list of 8.200 regular donors. Which project should I take on next? 🤔
