One of the premises of AI for education is the opportunity to create a more engaging and customized learning experience. Today we are introducing a new research experiment, Learn Your Way, which uses generative AI to transform static educational content into a learner-driven engaging experience. For textbook material, it generates multiple representations based on the source material - from mind maps and audio lessons to immersive text with interactive quizzes. Our recent efficacy study shows this approach can lead to improved learning outcomes on both short and long term recall tests. The system is grounded in learning science and powered by our pedagogy-infused family of models, LearnLM, which is now integrated directly into Gemini 2.5 Pro. Custom GPT is one of the most underrated features in ChatGPT, yet it offers powerful possibilities for teachers! Instead of jumping between prompts and re-explaining your context every time, you can build your own AI assistant that remembers your teaching style, goals, and classroom needs. With a Custom GPT, you can: 1. Upload your own materials: lesson plans, rubrics, curriculum standards, even sample handouts 2. Generate lesson ideas, quizzes, and discussion prompts tailored to your subject and students 3. Provide writing feedback aligned with your grading criteria 4. Support differentiation by quickly adapting tasks to different learning levels 5. Streamline your workflow so AI fits smoothly into your pedagogy In the guide I’m sharing today, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to set one up, examples of how it can look in practice, and ethical considerations to keep in mind. #CustomGPT #AIforTeachers #TeachingWithAI #EdTech #AIinEducation #TeacherResources #DigitalTeaching #AIIntegration #ClassroomAI #EdLeaders

  • Customized AI characters - who are they? 👉 Imagine a classroom where every student has a personal tutor available 24/7… Continuing the AI in education theme, as an educator, I am keen to explore how AI could enhance learning results. One approach is through the use of “customized AI characters,“ which are AI-powered virtual entities specifically designed to align with individual user preferences, needs, or objectives. Character AI is one tool that particularly interests me because of its capacity to greatly enhance learning outcomes and is leaving me with the thought that a student could have educational guidance available at any time it is needed. Customized AI character is an advanced innovation in artificial intelligence that uses machine learning and natural language processing to mimic human-like interactions. Its main objective is to generate personalized and engaging experiences, frequently by using chatbots or digital avatars that can converse with consumers in a human-like way. I am aware, that in the educational sector, such tools are revolutionizing the way students learn and interact with educational content: 🔵 Firstly, customized AI characters can learn about a student's strengths and limitations through ongoing engagement, and then provide support that is specifically needed to improve the student's learning outcomes. 🔵 Secondly, by using dynamic and engaging AI avatars, educators can improve students’ motivation and participation. These characters can offer material in an engaging and sympathetic way, making learning pleasant and effective. 🔵 Finally, because it can mimic talks with native speakers, it is especially useful in language learning. Students can practice and advance their language abilities in a realistic setting with this interactive experience. Research has indicated that when students engage with artificial intelligence characters, their academic performance improves, and their retention rates rise. It is believed that as this technology improves further, its educational applications will grow and provide even more innovative solutions to individualized learning. Not only as an educator, but also as a person working in a research field, I believe, that exploring customized AI characters could be a valuable step towards more effective and personalized learning experiences. If you have tried any of these tools, please share your experience in the comments.

This innovative approach in EdTech is transforming how students learn, educators teach, and how educational content is delivered. It's 'Personalized Learning Paths'. Here's what it means - 📍 Tailored Education for Every Learner: EdTech tools are now leveraging AI and data analytics to customize learning materials to fit individual student needs, pace, and learning styles. This means students struggling with certain concepts can spend more time mastering them, while those who excel can move ahead to more challenging material. 📍 Enhanced Engagement Through Interactive Content: EdTech isn't just about reading texts on a screen. It's about interactive videos, gamification, and simulations that make learning not just informative but also engaging and fun. By incorporating these elements, students are more likely to stay interested and retain information. 📍 Real-Time Feedback and Support: One of the biggest advantages of personalized EdTech tools is the ability to provide instant feedback. This immediate response helps students understand concepts more quickly and reduces frustration, leading to a more positive learning experience. 📍 Bridging the Accessibility Gap: Personalized learning isn't just for the privileged. EdTech platforms are increasingly accessible, offering quality education resources to remote and underserved areas, ensuring that quality learning is not confined to zip codes. 📍 Preparing for Future Challenges: The world is changing rapidly, and education needs to keep up. Personalized learning paths in EdTech are preparing students not just for exams, but for real-world problems and future workplaces. As we embrace this new era of personalized education, the possibilities are endless. The question now is not if, but how quickly we can adapt to ensure that every student benefits from this revolutionary approach. #EdTech #PersonalizedLearning #FutureOfEducation

Imagine learning from resources based on your preferred learning style and the impact it can have on your traction. A couple of researchers did this using Moodle and a Chatbot integration to train a C programming module at an engineering school in Morocco. The hack to this was an interesting one to read, they used an Indexing of Learning Styles (ILS) questionnaire based Felder and Silverman’s research with 44 questions to identify the learning styles preferred by their students. These ranged from visual in the form of videos, verbal in terms of text format, active through hands-on activities, and reflective by learning in solitude. During the online learning phase whenever a learner paused a question in the chatbot, it would swiftly search through the Moodle database to generate a personalized list of learning resources based on their initial learning style. At the end of the programme, post-test evaluation showed an improvement in the learners’ learning outcomes compared to the pre-test results as step forward. One impressive case study of the many out there considering how LLM abilities have improved since the launch of this paper in April 2023. Philosophy taught with Ironman analogies?  Physics examples based on F1 aerodynamics?  Biology education among the Zombie apocalypse?   Um...yes, please! Google’s new “Learn Your Way” experiment brings personalized education to life with online textbooks tailored to individual interests, learning styles and ability.  Their study of 60 high school students found positive outcomes:  9% better test performance, 11% higher 3 day retention, and 93% wanted to use it for future learning.  Experts rated it 0.85 or higher on a scale from 0 to 1 across all pedagogical criteria. There are real caveats:  The sample size was small, the study was short and the control group used a PDF reader.  It’s early (only available via waitlist in Google Labs) and deploying at scale will have to account for edge cases and hallucinations.   Despite that, and amidst legitimate concern about AI in education, it's a neat vision of what learning could look like when textbooks adapt to you. #AILearning #PersonalizedLearning #FutureOfLearning #IronmanPhilosophy
