The same name keeps appearing in my conversations: Medusa Commerce. Developers mention it. Agencies are building practices around it. So I am taking a look! My new article examines where Medusa fits against Shopify and Adobe Commerce: → Why "everything for everyone" platforms struggle with customization → Real TCO comparison: Shopify ($299-399/mo + apps + transaction fees) vs Adobe Commerce ($22K-125K/year licensing) vs Medusa ($0 licensing) → The three-platform market reality: simple needs, complex needs, custom needs → When each platform actually makes sense The composable commerce movement isn't hype anymore. It's creating real alternatives for businesses hitting platform ceilings. Medusa targets a specific gap: businesses needing more flexibility than Shopify provides without Adobe Commerce complexity and cost. Whether that becomes mainstream adoption or stays niche depends on ecosystem growth over the next 24 months. If you're working with Medusa, evaluating it, or hitting limitations with your current platform, this breakdown might help. What patterns are you seeing in platform conversations? #ecommerce #medusacommerce #shopify #adobecommerce #composablecommerce

Here's a comprehensive breakdown: 🛒 Ease of Use: Shopify: Known for its intuitive interface and drag-and-drop features, ideal for beginners. WooCommerce: Requires more technical proficiency, but offers extensive flexibility once mastered. 🔧 Customization: Shopify: Offers a variety of templates and apps for customization, albeit with some limitations. WooCommerce: Unlimited customization options due to its open-source nature, granting full control over design and functionality. 📈 Scalability: Shopify: Scales effortlessly as your business grows, handling high traffic volumes with ease. There is no single best ecommerce platform for all purposes. Rigby did an in-depth comparison of Shopify, WooCommerce, and Medusa across various parameters such as performance, customization, scalability, maintenance, and more. Below is a snapshot of the pros and cons for each platform: • Shopify: Great platform for non-developers with standardized needs, but limited in flexibility when you go beyond simple retail requirements. • WooCommerce: A good open-source solution for those familiar with the WordPress ecosystem, but struggles with performance and flexibility at scale. • Medusa: Offers the most flexibility for businesses requiring custom functionality and scale, but requires a larger upfront investment. Your platform choice should always be grounded in the needs of the specific case. For a detailed comparison, read the full article below. https://lnkd.in/eUett62S

Magento vs "Easier" alternatives for enterprise brands. The false economy of "Quick Launch" platforms. When C-suite executives compare platforms, they often focus on speed-to-market and initial development costs. Here’s how scalability plays out in the long run, mathematically: While Magento requires ~30% more development hours upfront, it reduces ongoing development costs by ~22% annually compared to more rigid platforms For every $1 spent customizing Magento, you'll spend $2.5 achieving the same result on "simpler" platforms 65% of businesses that chose a simpler platform to save money ended up migrating within 3 years. So, What business problems does Magento actually solve? Complex catalogs for B2B companies with thousands of SKUs, custom pricing rules, and intricate product configurations Omnichannel operations for seamlessly connecting online and offline experiences across multiple touchpoints Multi-store, multi-currency, multi-language capabilities without rebuilding your stack Tailoring the platform to your operations instead of forcing your business to conform to software limitations This explains why Magento powers 12% of the top 100,000 ecommerce sites globally despite being more complex initially. Have you ever chosen a platform based on initial cost only to discover hidden expenses later? #Ecommerce #AdobeCommerce #Magento #EnterpriseEcommerce #EcommerceTCO

I’m seeing more clients & eComm Leaders rethinking their Shopify vs Adobe Commerce (Magento) strategy right now. Over the last year, I’m seeing the Shopify grip loosening a bit. ***Take this with a Recruiter grain of salt*** Shopify seems to still be winning the simplicity war. But as companies scale, I’m hearing more conversations around merchants renting more than they own through subscriptions, apps, and platform dependency. Magento (Adobe Commerce) is quietly winning a different argument: Control. Magento’s Open Source model remains one of the biggest draws in ecommerce. The ability to own your codebase, customize without platform restrictions, and avoid licensing fees is extremely appealing for organizations with strong internal development teams and long-term platform strategies. Yes, Adobe Commerce builds can require more upfront engineering investment. But for complex B2B, multi-brand, or highly customized commerce environments, many organizations still see it as the ultimate flexibility play. Right now, it feels like the market is dividing into two camps: - Clients prioritizing speed, innovation, and operational simplicity → leaning Shopify - Clients prioritizing ownership, flexibility, and long-term control → leaning Magento / Adobe Commerce From a talent perspective, demand across BOTH ecosystems remains strong, especially for professionals who understand the business tradeoffs behind platform decisions. Admittedly, however, I'm seeing a push on the Magento side. Curious what others are seeing right now. Is Shopify tightening or loosening it's grip? Is Magento Open Source still the smartest long-term play for organizations that want full control?

Forrester has analyzed and ranked the leading B2B eCommerce platforms, evaluating them based on product offerings, strategy, market presence, and other relevant factors. Among the leaders are Salesforce, recognized for its Embedded Commerce approach and AI-powered features; commercetools, for its flexible MACH architecture and advanced integration capabilities; Optimizely, with its focus on testing and optimization within its DXP; and Shopify, which simplifies setup for non-technical users with its innovative AI feature. Other platforms such as Adobe, with its Adobe Experience Cloud, stand out for their personalization capabilities and robust partner ecosystem. BigCommerce, with its MACH architecture and curated app store, is ideal for companies seeking flexibility without costly migrations. VTEX, for its part, adopts a "Pragmatic Composability" approach, offering a comprehensive solution for manufacturers operating in both B2B and DTC, combining customization and scalability. This analysis provides valuable insights for companies looking to optimize their B2B operations and enhance customer experience through the right platform.

Shopify isn’t for everyone. But if you want to launch quickly, scale efficiently, and avoid dealing with hosting issues, plugin conflicts, or constant updates - #Shopify takes the lead. It’s designed for business owners who want to sell, not tinker. #WooCommerce gives you flexibility and full control - but at a cost. Without solid dev support, that freedom can quickly turn into frustration. Let’s compare: 👉 Shopify offers: - Built-in AI tools like Magic & Sidekick - Fast, seamless checkout - Effortless setup and scalability - 8,000+ apps - 24/7 support 👉 WooCommerce offers: - Full code control - Lower upfront cost (especially if you're on WordPress) - Unlimited customization But: more plugins often mean more problems. Most brands I’ve seen switch to #Shopify when they start saying: “We need to move faster - and grow more profitably.” So - Shopify or #WooCommerce? Which platform is actually right for a growing brand in 2025? #shopify #wp #magento #migration #ecommerce #woocommerce #magento #wix #dtc #cpg

TikTok Shop vs. Shopify vs. Amazon: Where Should You Focus to Maximise Sales in 2025? After 6 years of selling online and helping generate £5M+ in sales, I’ve seen brands struggle to acquire sales... Then switch strategies based on their strengths & transform their business. So let’s break down the biggest 3 ecom channels, pros and cons and which you should sell on. ➡️Amazon Amazon is a beast! 50% of online sales happen on Amazon It’s where I began and remain to date. I'll remain neutral & only share the facts: For new sellers, Amazon simplifies a lot of the heavy lifting: ✅ Built-in trust (reviews, easy returns, etc.). ✅ Massive customer base of 310M+ users. ✅ A straightforward way to get started & expand. But there are drawbacks: ❌ Amazon’s strict rules can be unforgiving. ❌ Customer service prioritises buyers over sellers. ❌ And their fees (up to 30%) can feel steep. Still, if you’re new to e-commerce and unsure how to bring traffic to your product, Amazon makes it easier to launch. ➡️TikTok Shop TikTok reminds me of Amazon early days — full of potential. With the strategy you can take your brand to the next level. I haven’t fully cracked the code on this (yet), but those who have are laughing … (to the bank)😅 Why TikTok works: ✅70% of ecom sales happen on mobile. ✅TikTok’s algorithm puts products directly in front of ideal buyers. ✅You can create a single viral video and sell out your stock overnight. I’ve seen this happen with a friend’s H&M promotion—it hit 1.1M views, and the product sold out in hours. But TikTok isn’t perfect: ❌You need strong, creative videos to stand out. ❌Shipping deadlines are tight, and can lead to penalties. ❌Might not be around for long due to gov compliance issues. If you know how to go viral, TikTok Shop is a must! ➡️Shopify Shopify gives you control. And with great power comes great responsibility! Here’s why brands love it: ✅You own your customer data. ✅You keep more of your profit. ✅You can build a custom experience (website, packaging etc.) I built a few Shopify stores in the past: Sometimes we had crickets And others we managed to break even with paid ads The skill set to run a Shopify store can be daunting but worth it ... if done right ❌But Shopify can be difficult for beginners ❌You’re responsible for all the marketing ❌Without the right strategy, it’s easy to build a beautiful store that no one visits If you have a strong marketing background, Shopify is a fantastic choice So, which platform is best?⬇️ 1. If you’re just starting out, Amazon is the easiest way to learn the ropes 2. If you’re a creative genius with video, TikTok Shop could be your goldmine 3. And if you know how to drive traffic and retain customers, Shopify gives you total control over your brand All 3 platforms have their pros and cons—it’s about choosing what aligns with your current skills and goals ♻️Feel free to repost this with anyone who might find this information helpful.

🛒 NetSuite SuiteCommerce Advanced vs Shopify I was speaking with a NetSuite Alliance Partner last week, and they mentioned that one of their customers chose SuiteCommerce Advanced over Shopify for their eCommerce platform. When it comes to eCommerce, most companies I work with tend to lean toward Shopify - but after doing some digging into SCA, it’s clear both platforms have their place. From what I’ve seen and read, Shopify is a great fit for small to mid-sized retailers who need a fast, easy setup. However, because Shopify is a standalone platform, it often requires separate integrations to connect with ERP systems - and as businesses scale, this can lead to more manual work and added complexity. SuiteCommerce Advanced (SCA), on the other hand, is built natively within NetSuite. It connects your eCommerce, inventory, CRM, and finance directly into one system - offering real-time visibility, no need for third-party ERP integration, and scalability for both B2B and B2C operations. Bottom line: Shopify is perfect when you’re getting started. SCA makes a lot more sense when you’re thinking bigger and want everything under one roof.
