Start your LinkedIn Personal Brand in 2026 (Step-by-step) STEP 1:  Decide WHAT you want to be remembered for (Not what you want to post) Before you write a single post, answer this clearly: Who do I help? With what problem? And in what context? If someone reads 5 of your posts, they should be able to say: “Oh, this person talks about this.” If they can’t; you don’t have a brand yet. Clarity comes before creativity. STEP 2:  Fix your profile  (this is non-negotiable) Your LinkedIn profile is not your résumé. It’s not your life story either. It’s a decision page. People should instantly understand: * Is this relevant to me? * Can this person help me? * Should I follow them? Focus especially on: Headline → who + outcome About section → problem → perspective → proof → next step If your profile is vague, your content will struggle; no matter how good it is. STEP 3:  Choose 3-4 content pillars only Most people fail because they post everything. In 2026, brands grow through repetition, not randomness. Pick pillars like: Authority (what you know deeply) Story (your thinking, lessons, failures) Proof (results, experiments, insights) Opinion (your stand, not borrowed quotes) Every post should fit into one of these. If it doesn’t; don’t post it. STEP 4:  Stop trying to sound smart. Start trying to be clear. You don’t need new ideas every day. You need clear thinking, said repeatedly in different ways. The goal of content is not: Virality Validation Cleverness The real goal is recall. When someone sees your name, they should already know what you stand for. STEP 5:  Visibility beats posting more Posting and disappearing won’t work anymore. In 2026, LinkedIn rewards: Conversations Familiarity Presence Daily actions that matter: * Comment meaningfully on relevant profiles * Reply to comments properly * Be visible where your audience already is People follow people they recognize not strangers who post a lot. STEP 6:  Let trust come before monetisation If you rush selling, your brand will feel noisy. Focus first on: Clarity Consistency Value alignment Money is a by-product of trust. 𝗣. 𝗦. When people trust your thinking, they don’t need convincing.

LinkedIn Personal Branding Rule #1: Don’t let your personality die in a template. I’ve worked with dozens of founders, brilliant people, and incredible storytellers in person. But the minute they sit down to write a LinkedIn post? It turns into: “Empathy is the cornerstone of leadership in today’s ever-evolving digital landscape.” No it’s not. And more importantly, you’ve never said that sentence in your life. Here’s the truth most people don’t hear enough: If your content sounds like a press release, no one’s reading it, let alone your ideal client. You don’t need to sound smarter. You need to sound familiar. Because your audience connects with the truth. → Tell me how you bombed your first pitch. → Tell me what made you spiral at 2 AM. → Tell me the exact moment you knew your product was working. Say it the way you’d say it to a friend, a team member or your co-founder on a 10-minute voice note rant. That’s what builds trust. Templates can give you structure but they can’t build connection. That part comes from you. Specific phrases that you use Your strong opinions. Your one-liner that makes someone pause and think, “Wait, same.” So if you're using LinkedIn to build a personal brand, ditch the perfection. Choose the personality. And if you’re a founder who knows their work is powerful but your content doesn’t show it, DM me “BRAND” and let’s build  your personal brand.

You don't need to post every day to build a personal brand. You just need to be intentional about the few things you do. If you're aiming for senior roles and hate social media, this is for you. Here's how to build a personal brand that attracts opportunities without burning out: 1. Understand why personal brand matters at the senior level. ✅ Senior roles often come through referrals, not job boards. ✅ Hiring managers Google you before they reach out. ✅ Speaking opportunities, promotions, and partnerships happen when people know what you're about. Your brand isn't about going viral. It's about being memorable to the right people. 2. Focus on the 3 pillars: Profile, Posts, Engagement. ✅ Profile: Make your LinkedIn headline and About section crystal clear. Show your expertise, impact, and what you care about. ✅ Posts: Share 1-2 times per month. Focus on lessons learned, hot takes, or insights from your work. Quality over quantity. ✅ Engagement: Comment thoughtfully on posts from leaders in your space. This builds visibility without creating content. You don't need a content calendar. You need consistency in small doses. 3. Build authority without "going viral." ✅ Share what you've learned after shipping a hard project. ✅ Break down a technical decision you made and why it mattered. ✅ Comment on industry trends with a clear point of view. Authority isn't about followers. It's about depth, clarity, and showing how you think. 4. Real example: How this works in practice. One of my clients posted once a month for 6 months. No videos. No carousels. Just thoughtful posts about system design and leadership. He didn't go viral. But a VP at a company he wanted to work for saw his posts, reached out, and fast-tracked him through the interview process. That's the power of strategic visibility. 5. Make it easy to maintain. ✅ Set a reminder to post once every 2-3 weeks. ✅ Spend 10 minutes per week engaging with 3-5 posts in your feed. ✅ Update your profile twice a year, after big projects or promotions. You don't need to be everywhere. You just need to show up where it counts. The engineers landing the best opportunities aren't the loudest. They're the ones who positioned themselves so well that opportunities come to them. If you’re looking for these senior roles, comment “LinkedIn” and I’ll give you a free audit so you can get started!

A couple of months ago, I quietly made the niche switch from “digital marketing” to “personal branding & audience building” here on LinkedIn. I didn’t make a big announcement. I just let the work speak for itself. And this week, I opened my inbox to the wild news that I’m officially ranked #5 in the United States for Personal Branding & Audience Building by Favikon. Top 5. In the entire country. …after less than two years of treating LinkedIn as a serious platform. It’s surreal, but it’s also proof of something I’ve been preaching for months: Your personal brand is no longer a ‘nice to have.’ It’s a career strategy. A revenue strategy. A visibility strategy. Whether you’re building a company, a career, or a community, people don’t just follow brands, they follow humans. And when you learn how to articulate your story, your expertise, your values, and your point of view? Opportunities find you long before you ever need to go looking for them. I promise it's not hard, it just takes a bit of effort. Here are 4 simple ways to do personal branding the right way: 1. Treat LinkedIn like a relationship platform, not a resume. Stop “posting for the algorithm.” Start posting for people. Share insight, perspective, and personality. 2. Build a recognizable content style. Voice, visuals, tone, hooks, stories, they all matter. Consistency is what turns strangers into followers and followers into believers. 3. Document the journey, not just the wins. People connect with what’s real. Share behind-the-scenes thinking, lessons learned, and the “why” behind your decisions. 4. Invest in community, not just broadcasting. Comment. Support. Engage. Show up for people. Brands grow faster when they’re rooted in belonging. Making this niche shift was one of the best decisions I’ve made and being recognized for it is just the fuel to go even deeper in helping people build the kind of online presence that changes their career trajectory. If you’re thinking of leveling up your personal brand in 2026… Start today. Even quietly. Even imperfectly. Because your digital footprint is your competitive advantage and every post is a seed for future opportunity.

Over the last 4 years, I've helped 150+ founders build profitable, influential & money-making brands on LinkedIn — in just 3 months! I know what you're thinking - "Sakshi, that's great, but I'm stuck. How do I do this?" Don't worry; I've got you covered. Here are 9 steps to build your LinkedIn personal brand in 90 days or less: 1/ Prove yourself through a killer headline: Don’t just say "Founder." Make your headline a mini-pitch that highlights what you do and who you help. Think: "I help professionals climb the career ladder through data-driven executive training in 70 days." 2/ Show your story through an irresistible About section: Talk directly to your audience. Share your journey, your mission, and how you can help them. Make it personal, not a boring resume summary. 3/ Post with a reason: Every post should have a goal—whether it’s sharing a lesson, inspiring your audience, or starting a conversation. Make sure it aligns with your overall brand. 4/ Get personal, get real: People love vulnerability. Share your failures and what you’ve learned along the way. It’ll make you more relatable and human. 5/ Engage as much as you can: Instead of just scrolling through your feed, spend 20 minutes daily leaving thoughtful comments. This builds stronger relationships than just likes and reactions. 6/ Show your face: Use photos and videos of yourself. A simple selfie with a quick story or insight can do wonders in making your brand more approachable. 7/ Build mini-content series: Break down complex topics into bite-sized posts that flow over a week. For example, "5 days of career tips for new professionals." This keeps people coming back for more. 8/ DM with value: Don’t just cold-pitch people. When you connect with someone, send them a personalised message with a genuine compliment or offer something useful. If it’s a pitch, try being direct in the 1st message itself. 9/ Track your progress: Use LinkedIn analytics and tools like Shield to monitor your post engagement and profile views. Adjust your strategy based on what resonates most with your audience. Now, here's something interesting: According to LinkedIn, members who post weekly on the platform are 5 times more likely to be contacted for new opportunities. That's the power of consistent branding! Let me share a quick story that might inspire you: When I started on LinkedIn, I was nervous about posting. But I remembered I once read: “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” Alan Watts So, I took the plunge. My first post got only 3 likes, but I kept going. Six months later, I had my first viral post with over 1000 likes. That's when I realised - content isn’t the power, consistency is! Building a personal brand takes time and effort, but it's worth it. So, which of these steps will you start with today? #linkedinstrategy #personalbranding #entrepreneurtips #indianstartups

Posting daily won’t build your personal brand. This will. Most people think LinkedIn growth = posting every day. It doesn’t. Posting daily only makes sense after your foundation is strong. Here’s what actually builds a personal brand on LinkedIn: 1. Knowing exactly who you want to be known by 2. Being clear about one core topic you talk about 3. Having a strong opinion, not safe advice 4. Saying the same message in different ways 5. Teaching from experience, not theory 6. Sharing lessons, not just tips 7. Making your profile tell a clear story 8. Writing like a human, not a content calendar 9. Repeating your core belief until people remember it 10. Choosing depth over volume 11. Posting when you have something real to say 12. Connecting your content to a clear outcome 13. Letting people see how you think 14. Explaining why you do things, not just what 15. Being consistent in message, not frequency 16. Building trust before trying to sell 17. Answering the same questions your audience asks you privately 18. Creating content that sounds like you 19. Staying patient when growth feels slow 20. Writing posts people can relate to, not just save 21. Making your ideas quotable 22. Standing for something (even if not everyone agrees) 23. Focusing on relevance, not reach 24. Playing the long game 25. Becoming recognizable before becoming viral Posting daily can help. But clarity builds brands. If this helped you rethink your LinkedIn strategy: → Follow Imtisal Mehmood for more personal branding insights What’s your biggest struggle with personal branding right now?

I do personal branding for some of the world's top speakers, CEOs, & authors. Here are 15 of the biggest LinkedIn personal branding tips I've learned working with my clients: →Optimize Your Profile: Make sure every section of your profile is polished and professional. →Client-Focused About Section: Your "About" section should address your clients' pain points and how you solve them, not list your expertise. →Follower Growth ≠ Business Growth: More followers don’t necessarily translate to more sales. You need to have the RIGHT followers. →Going Viral Risks: Viral posts can attract the wrong audience and skew your follower base and analytics. →Use the STEP Framework: Follow the STEP framework for posting content each week. This will ensure you're never stuck wondering "what should I post today?!" (DM me and I will share this strategy with you). →Repurpose Top Content: Squeeze the juice out of your best content. →Respond to Your DMs: Engage with your DMS; your content is shown to those you interact with in DMs first. →Engage Daily: Aim to write 20 thoughtful comments on different posts every day. →Start a LinkedIn Newsletter: Such an easy way to get consistent eyes on your content and create a sales funnel. →Lean into Storytelling: People resonate with stories, not sales messages. →Direct Traffic: Have a clear path for people to move from your LinkedIn profile to your website or email list. Use the custom button feature for this. →Targeted Messaging: Speak directly to your target audience and their pain points. →Focused Audience: Limit yourself to 1-2 target audiences. Newsflash: Your audience is not everyone. →Content Types: Your content should be either entertaining, educational, or inspirational. →Generosity in Content: You can never give away too much valuable content for free.
