Are you working overtime?

Are you working overtime?

Working overtime has become a way of living in today’s world. People believe that spending 50-55 hours per week is fine as it is a measure of their Productivity. They kind of believe that if they are not putting those extra hours at work, they are not doing justice to their job.

But the reality is not this. It is exactly the opposite. Productivity is/should not be judge by the number of hours you spend at work. In fact, it is the amount of work you do in the designated time.

So, the next time you work overtime do reflect on these points:

A tired mind is never productive: There can be clear signs of tiredness on your mind as a result of working overtime. Remember that you are putting your mind under constant stress by working overtime. This could be a major reason that you are taking more number of hours to complete a particular task.

It literally kills your personal life: We all get 24 hours in a day out of which we need to maintain balance between our professional and personal life. If you are spending more hours at work, it means you are giving less number of hours to your personal life. This can impact your relationships big time. This won’t keep you cheerful or help you remain productive at work either.

Being productive is no rocket science: The Sad reality of today’s time is that people are too occupied in running. You need to keep in mind that everything deserves rest. Even machines wear out if they are not given resting time.

What are your thoughts about it? I'd love to hear them out.
