Want to Make Moves in 2021? You'll Need to Move From Being Interested to Committed. Here's How...
This past weekend I watched a charmingly awful movie about online dating.
And yet, for as cheesy as the movie was, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between the struggles and success of the characters’ dating lives with the struggles and success of my clients.
I know. It sounds weird, but hear me out...
What I saw on the screen that so strangely but truly mirrored what I’m seeing right now among my clients was this:
The difference between interested and committed.
When I start working with clients, I ask them, “Are you interested or are you committed?” Because fact is, “interest” alone does not cut it these days.
I know it’s a scary, deeply uncomfortable thing to accept change. And I know you know that, too!
Letting go of your way of doing something, changing your thoughts or beliefs, welcoming the unknown – scary stuff!
But I’ll let you in on a secret:
When you relinquish fear, the end will be a GLORY you couldn’t have predicted.
Here’s why:
- Interest does not compel you, in fact it will often leave you disgruntled, inert, and frustrated.
- Commitment elevates you to a sightline level with your dreams and goals within reach.
Moving from, “I’m interested but I’m still thinking about it” to “I am committed to welcoming change into my life” is exactly when that catalyst moment happens to bring about the RESULTS you’ve been looking for.
Here's how to move from interested to committed...
Ask yourself:
- What's been holding me back from moving to committed from interested?
- What am I afraid of?
- What's one small step I can do today/this week that will move me more in the direction of what I want?
- How will I commit to this for 30 days?
- How will I show up this way for myself, my team, my future? What does it look like in action?
Convert your interest into commitment and I guarantee results will follow.
