Better, Faster Storyboards

Do you draw storyboards?

Do you use Storyboard Pro?

Whether you use Storyboard Pro or not, you owe it to yourself to see how powerful this software is and how much time it can save you in production.

As an artist, I like the new brushes in Storyboard Pro. As a business man, I like how Storyboard Pro makes my job faster so I can earn more money.

If you are not familiar with my background, I have over 4,000 production credits on everything from TV series, to commercials to 43 feature films (www.Storyboards-East.com for more info). I wrote the book Storyboards: Motion In Art 3rd Edition and I worked with the development team at Toon Boom to make Storyboard Pro work for us...artists.

Storyboard Pro is the industry standard software for story artists. Studios all over the world use it and it has changed quite a bit over the years. If you haven’t used it in a while, you’ll be happy with the new changes.

It is now stronger and better than ever.

The FAST and EASY way to learn Storyboard Pro v5.1

I just updated my Storyboard Pro course on Lynda.com. I added 16 new videos to showcase all the latest cool things the software can do with the release of version 5.1 and how it helps you, the artist.

Updates to the software include:

  • Dozens of new brushes requested by users. Your lines in Storyboard Pro are now more natural.
  • Artists also now have the ability to group layers for more control over their video storyboards, also known as animatics. Now you can draw on one layer, color on another and group them so they move together…and can still be edited later. (this was an addition I fought for)
  • Another timesaver for artists is the ability to share drawings within a project. Shared drawings will automatically update every instance of that drawing when it is updated. Now when the director asks for changes to that background you’ve used in 8 panels, you won’t curse him out. Just edit one instance of the art and all the others update instantly. It’s too cool!
  • Artists and editors also now have complete control over keyframes of layers when they add motion to their animatics. Earlier versions of Storyboard Pro only allowed one linear move of a layer from the first frame to the last frame. Now you can add as many keyframes as you want and bounce your layer all over the frame.

Learn quickly with short videos

If you aren’t familiar with the courses on Lynda.com, they are fantastic. All the videos are short, usually no more than 5-7 minutes. You get the answers to exactly what you want without watching an hour of stuff you don’t care about.

My Toon Boom Storyboard Pro Essential Training course consists of over 75 videos covering topics ranging from the benefits of digital storyboarding to setting up files, to editing on the timeline, to tricks to speed up your work to exporting options.

I use Storyboard Pro every day and this latest update has made my professional life even better. Take a few minutes and improve your abilities and speed with Storyboard Pro.

FREE Videos

The course includes a number of FREE videos. You don’t have to be a member to get a feel for the software. If you do want access to all the training videos, Lynda.com is cheap to buy into and you can cancel at any time.

I get emails and calls from artists all over the world asking for details on how to improve their work in Storyboard Pro. I designed this course to help everyone from the newbie to the seasoned pro understand more about the amazing abilities of the Storyboard Pro software.
