"At the end of the day, what matters is that you are solving a real problem that exists in the market and that someone, lots of someones’ are willing to pay for that problem. …I have been involved in startups that had some really, really cool tech, and it didn’t kind of solve a problem. It kind of invented a problem to be solved….and in that case we weren't really successful. So I think about having this, really almost obsessive focus on the customer… This is a cliche, but it's true, we're here to solve a problem. We're not here for me, and we're not here for you. We're here to solve some problem the customer has. And the solution for that problem needs to be sufficient in its size and its breadth and its depth that somebody is willing to pay for it."

Shawn has more than 25 years experience in engineering beginning with his first projects working on the Y2K bug and the initial HIPAA implantation to earning two patents in AI. His career spans industries from government to healthcare to FinTech. Shawn has been in the startup space for the last 10 years where he's served as founding engineer and CTO, as well as a formal advisor.
