Selling Animated Projects

Selling Animated Projects

Pitching and selling an animated project is something a lot of us dream about. Actually creating something original and getting it on the air is a huge achievement. When I worked in the studios, very few projects ever made it all the way to the screen.

Darrin McGowan, one of our LinkedIn Learning authors, has done just that. He recently finished a pilot for Nickelodeon and it is really something special. "Fur-Ever Family" is a charming show about a dog who gets rescued and finds himself in a house full of cats. I love the designs and Darrin's sense of humor really comes through. I hope Nickelodeon picks it up for series.

Here's the pilot if you want to take a look:

And, a few years ago, we spent an afternoon with Darrin. He talked about pitching shows, working in the studios, and how he got his start in animation. If you're interested in seeing more, check it out on LinkedIn Learning:

Very cool! Thanks for sharing, George. I stumbled into the world of Blender recently and got hooked as I tried to learn in my free time. I'm now jumping into a Computer Animation program. I haven't seen many from the industry sharing insights on LI, so the article/videos here were very valuable! Darin's explanation was interesting! Looking forward to working through your Blender course on LI Learning!
