Ready for the Best Version of Yourself?

If you want the roadmap to become the best version of yourself, look no further than the journey of the butterfly. While it’s characterized as a beautiful process, it is actually a grueling process of hard work, loss, and a hideous metamorphosis. Are you ready?

As a caterpillar (the larva stage), we witness the season of preparation where the caterpillar invests most of its time filling itself with the calories and resources necessary to experience metamorphosis. Consider what you aspire to be and accomplish, and ask yourself how you will pursue the journey of preparation. What must I learn? Who must I meet? What must I do? Remember, this is about preparation for metamorphosis and it’s foundational to the success you will have in the next season.

The next is the three-phase season of metamorphosis.

First, the caterpillar spins a silky cocoon into a chrysalis (the pupa stage) where the body will actually digest itself dissolving anything that is not needed for the next stage of life. What parts of your past are you holding on to that’s keeping you from moving forward?

Second, parts of the pupa are now changing, reshaping and adapting to being able to function optimally for the next chapter of life. Are you actively transforming parts of your life and business that position you for taking advantage of this next season, or are you stuck keeping things the way they are, maybe because they are familiar, comfortable, or you just don’t know how?

Third, after digesting, dissolving, reshaping and adapting, the soon-to-be butterfly starts to develop things that never existed before. The most profound being the development of wings. Do you feel you were meant to fly?

The butterfly can now emerge from the cocoon into the season of fulfillment and all it was destined to be. The advantage, of course, for a butterfly is that all this metamorphosis can take place in the privacy of a cocoon. But you and I have to experience this hideous metamorphosis in the presence of the world. It can feel very vulnerable, uncomfortable, and perhaps even worse, we have to learn to love and give grace to the people around us who are also in metamorphosis.

The most exciting part is whether you are in the season of preparation, metamorphosis, or fulfillment, embrace it, celebrate it, help give birth to the best version of you. And you will experience the miracle of the transformed life.
