Quick Guide: How to Build a Personal Brand
Are you stepping out on your own as a consultant or new business owner? Would a reputable personal brand help you attract new clients? Do you have the skills and industry expertise, but miss the help of your marketing department?
Amazing Brands is a new initiative launched by Amazing CEO. We help entrepreneurs launch and revitalize their brands with digital marketing to drive more revenue. If you would like to begin to build your personal brand, just follow this guide.
I know that launching a personal brand can be overwhelming. You know your business needs it, but you don’t want to be the one who steps out with an unprofessional brand that everyone secretly laughs at. You also don’t want to come across like an infomercial salesman from the ‘80s. So, how are you supposed to build a professional brand online?
Take the time to strategize your personal brand. Warren Buffest once said, “It takes 20 years to build up a reputation and 5 minutes to destroy it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” Ensure you are creating a timeless, effective and engaging brand clients will be attracted to.
Think about the brands you like as a consumer. What do you like about them? What do you not like? Combine the best qualities of these brands onto a mood board. Notice how the combination becomes unique to your personality. Then, start to translate this into your personal brand.
To create a brand that gets noticed, you need to be consistent. Start by following these steps:
- Establish brand guidelines. A brand is comprised of a logo, brand colors, brand fonts and a theme. Consider how you want your brand to make your clients feel. Communicate this through the designs you pick, and stay consistent with all of your marketing materials.
- Build a website. You’ll need a website for your clients to refer towards. Ensure your copywriting is addressing the pain points of your clients and is painting them as the hero of the story, not yourself. Write out what you do, how you can help, and how to start working with you in three easy steps. Be sure every single word on your site is necessary. If it isn’t, then delete it!
- Utilize social media. Now that you have your branded site up and running, start driving traffic towards it by utilizing social media. For professional audiences, LinkedIn is your best platform. If you are selling B2C, be active on Instagram and Facebook. All businesses should develop a YouTube page, as it is the second largest search engine behind Google.
