The Power of Lies

The Power of Lies

Lucky are those who find it easy to be what they truly are. Many of us live in a dual world- the one we show outside and the other where we are truly ourselves. Some of us are aware while many others live their entire lives oblivious to such a dualistic existence. I would like to believe that amongst the people who indeed are aware,  a small minority deliberately and  proactively try to weave their existence and showcase it to the external world for maximum benefit to oneself. However the vast majority lie because they do not know any other way. Years of conditioning have ingrained it in them.

Every conditioning or habit needs a fuel to keep it alive and make it stronger.  Fear is one such strong energy source for these patterns.  If a partner feels  insecure chances are that they may not want to say anything disagreeable to their companion , lest they lose them. They may keep all the disagreeable feelings within them and the partner might never even know of the existence of such feelings. They are then relating to a person who truly is not who they seem to be. Such a relationship becomes stale over a period of time and loses its inner significance. When you articulate what you truly feel inside, your partner may understand you and mould themselves accordingly, or they may not be able to take it , in which case there is a risk. It is essential to subject relationships to such risks for it to grow. Safety in a relationship does not stretch it , instead it reinforces the current comfort zone. It is when you feel comfortable and express your true nature without fear that the other person can connect to who you are. The connection can then evolve as an experience and become stronger. Off course there is always a possibility that a superficial connect can be broken when the true nature of individuals comes out.  But it is better for such relationships to be nipped at its bud, than allowing it to stagnate for decades.

Individuals who conceal their true feelings and their true selves always run the risk of their true nature being exposed at the  most unexpected moments (moments of crisis , turning points in life etc). The partner cannot get over the shock of seeing sides which they never thought existed. This could be one reason why after decades of staying together , during rare moments of epiphany , relationships are ripped  apart.

Societies which breed complete obedience (ex communists states or absolute dictatorship) breed such patterns in their citizens. When an individual get s used to keeping quite because of fear of reprisals, chances are they will carry such habits to all aspects of their lives- workplace, relationships etc. If the individual is riven with insecurities then the pattern is more difficult to change.

Truth has tremendous powers to create, but a lie has enormous powers to destroy. An individual who lives with such lies their entire life have to face the consequences at all levels- physiological, psychological and spiritual. If one is suppressing bitterness and not showing it to others, the power of such emotions can alter the digestive system and make it weak. Suppressed jealousy or anger can affect the heart and years of hidden resentment may affect one's lungs.

At a deeper level such an existence take away the freedom of an individual and lead them to live in a highly mechanistic manner.
